Actually getting through the nightmare or 35 solder welds in my volume control when I couldn't find my pen iron was really the only thing I had to do. The rest was a bunch of zip ties and trimming.

I did succumb to a few solderless connectors in very non-key locations but ONLY because I ran out of solder. Doh.gif

Since selling my resistance unit, I have only two guns now. It makes things quite difficult, but I just can't seem to find a used station for a decent price. People think they are gold.

Do you know where the gain was set on it? I didn't open it and spent ZERO time tuning.

Put amp gains on minimum, set minidsp to cross over at 80Hz, plugged in line driver and launched the boat.

I'll have plenty of time on the water to dink with it later, installing was the first key.

Not positive, but 6 or 9 volts seems to come to mind. We were playing with an SSL amp to prove my point.

Well, with my gains set at off I cans distortz ma speakerz

I just have a cheap pistol and a real cheap pen. I try to avoid doing it since I hate it. Can imagine when the ALPS arrived what I said.

What cable are you using for your RCAs? My Tiff shit is almost gone.

I had a fleet of 20 yr old monster cable that had a bad RCA on one end or the other. I saved them thinking some day I'd need scrap and sure enough had four scraps which was enough for 8 cables. Nice in that they were dual conductor + shield so that I didn't have to try and solder the shield as a lead. I expect no noise...at least until the depth finder is on.

I tested it briefly without the LD and the miniDSP works. Sounds so much fucking better than the shit that was in there. Still sounds like the sub amp has some bass processing of some sort on, but that wouldn't surprise me since the 4 chn amp up front is also acting funny.

Polk D4000 on the way...

Did you get the amps figured out?

i've read that quite a few of these amps showing up now.

15 percent off that nvx seems to still be working. brings it down to 195

Thanks, ordered a Polk three days ago for $230 shipped. Somehow paying that extra $35 seems worth it to me even though I am pretty sure it isn't.

Hell if the Nakamichi's were $300 I'd pay for them. Not sure what about Nak stuff that has always excited me.

Just ordered one to try it first. When it's a large improvement over the current RF I'll order the remaining ones and sell off the RF.

Appreciate the link, I don't spend anytime at that hell hole.

Gotta laugh at that place. Every time those guys come across a "deal" it turns into a fad. "These seem to be just rebadged XXXs or YYYs so they must perform just the same." Yet when you make a thread comparing equipment that isn't so much a deal that still appear to be as similar as the other "deals," they are dismissed as lower quality copy cats.

NAK has turned into shit. Last I heard, they are no more anyways. I'm sure you have some contacts who are in the know.

I'm guessing not all of these copies are created equal. who knows

i just like checking out some of the builds on the site, even though the equipment choice is typically ridiculous.

The humi is a desk top one. Holds about 50 sticks. I can season it up for ya before it ships, and it makes a damn good starter humi.

As for buying cigars buy the sampiler packs or single sticks. Yes it sucks to wait, but all three of these sites ship FRESH and well packed. Additionally, they offer prices and packages that will make your smoking experiences great with limited loss of cash.

I will check those places out. Most of what I found online is similarly priced to the local place after shipping etc.

What is seasoning a humidor?

Basically it is getting the wood on the inside of the humidor to absorb some humidity to keep a more humidity stable environment. Stability for cigars is like it is for kids. If its good they perform how they should. If its shakey, they are REAL hit and miss.

This should explain better.
