I spent way more on crossovers than the drivers. It isn't friendly, but once implemented sweet.

Well it's either a minidsp, or I find something else. on Madisound they have a sweet kit with some fostex, folded horn enclosures, but I'd have to make some stands, and move my desk for space.

I'll probably wait a little longer and get the dsp for either route.

I should have mine wired up by the end of the week. Going to figure out what I need today and order it so it'll be here by Wednesday.

Will just be used in 2.1 mode atm....until I get off my arse and build some tower speakers. :)

i slapped together zaph's hivi b3n (or is it b3s) design for my computer speaker. but i dont need very much output at all.

I prefer headphones for gaming, etc.

if they are computer speakers, is there not a way to do the process actively on the pc, rather then purchase a minidsp?

Most definitely a way and it's a better option if you are truly just using them for pc speakers. Cheaper, more flexibility and fucking cool. I just didn't want a "boat pc" for hopefully obvious reasons.

Question for anybody that knows.

Phone line is one conductor typically. Is it better to run stranded when you have dsl or does it not matter?

No idea, but when I had DSL I never had a problem with solid. Doesn't mean it's right tho

There's only one stereo output from my computer, unless I bought a different sound card.

I don't remember if they have any dealers, but I thought I read somewhere about shipping taking a few weeks.

I know how it is, I once pissed people off at my favorite knitting forum, and they banned me. What the fuck? Just because I told one person they were fucking stupid. Can you believe that?

Since then my knitting has turned to shit. I won't fuck though.

Painting plastics of the interior of the car is a real PITA......its made even worse when the wind suddenly pics up. Even light winds tries to pick up the plastics. Cant use the garage case the bird is in there with a bunch of other crap. Moving the car out isn't much of an option as the driveway is slanted and the spring on my e-brake needs re-set.

J

Sounds like a conundrum.

frame up a lil room and use some big pieces of plastic for a little paint booth?

It truly is. Unfortunately I don't have a spare room big enough that doesn't have a ventilation issue. Tomorrow is supposed to be less wind.

I only need to do 2 more coats on each piece then light sand and seal. Then the bitch of all bitches.....the center console.

J

Get eight 3-way pvc elbows, pvc pipe, and plastic lining. You can assemble a "room" in five minutes, and tear down just as fast. Should work fine outside.

I'll have to look into cards then.

Wait a second!

If I used the TBs fullrange, but they needed processing, then I would still only need two channels (L,F), in that case my current card does.

Is there some application I can use for the processing that I can try out with my current card, or do I need some fancy card that has some software?

PE also had a dayton kit, but I do not want to sit hunched over my desk for a few hours soldering together the crossover network. Call me lazy. :D

Wait a second is right. ROFL, didn't notice that myself.

Can't use a kit for the TB's.

As for Xover options:

Foobar2000 DSP Crossover, Crossvolver, rs-met, Easy XO, LS Filter, Rubber Filter

Should all do, there are more but those are free :)

Going to need a VST program as well, but those are about the same price :)

How's that for saving you money? And yes, mine are connected to a pc with the passives....but I also use a Slingbox and pipe music up to the receiver from my home automation so they aren't just connected to this pc.

So I use one of the xo programs for setting up the filters, then apply it to the VST, and set windows to use it as the source/input?

Pretty much. If anyone can hack that quick, it ought to be you :)

Curious which one you select. I started to think about going that route and did some initial searching but quit after realizing that I didn't feel like dealing with a PC on the boat.

I'm sure I can figure it out, but it's always easier when someone tells you how to do it. heh

I initially found foobar2000, but then saw it as a plugin for their media player, but that's where the VST comes in handy.

Crossvolver, and rs-met look like they have nice GUIs too. Although if I were in linux, I'd probably opt for brutefir in a terminal. laugh.png

Yeah throwing a PC into the mix on a boat isn't something I'd want to fuck with either. Minidsp should be killer.

If I had done it, I'd tell you how. Hopefully I saved you some research time at least :)

Definitely. I found foobar2000 on my own, but after seeing it was only for their media player, I ignored it.

The rest of my searching was dsp filter computer, computer audio dsp filter, computer audio filter, etc, and it wasn't bringing up much.

Some of their keywords are definitely targeted towards low level waste of time shit. I could teach an eight year old how to use cain, inject sql, brute force with cain, jtr, barswf, l0phtcrack. Hell you can download Backtrax with a whole slew already there, just add some rainbow tables. MITM attacks with ettercap, LFI/RFI with a browser.

Just to ice the cake, I live in Tucson, so I must be a hacker working for the drug cartels.
