I cannot say enough at how much a difference it was when we thinsulated my roof. Was huge for this super cold, curious as to how it will do with the very hot days. I can make it almost all the way to work and there will be frost still on the top because most of the heat from the cabin did not make it up.

Might remember that my M5 had thinsulate everywhere. Way before it was available in the aftermarket. Still have a bunch and access to a ton more.

Even though there is no mass, thinsulate works like MLV as an absorber. The long fibers are a bit "magic".

It did help, yes, but there is also 12 CLD tiles up there too. This is my first non-sunroof car I have owned, so a long un-interrupted surface on the roof can act as a source in a way. From a semi-psychological stand point, all the work done on the car with SDS that caused such good isolation from the outside, really makes the inside feel more cozy and welcoming. Not sure how else to explain it. It is all totally hidden, but when there is so much less presence from what is around you, there is a feeling of being wrapped up in the car. Kind of like a really warm winter jacket. Similar, but different in a mental way from the sled, as it was a big heavy vault like sleeping giant.

I wouldn't worry about it to much. I would be amazed if they rusted through in the lifetime of the car.
