Is this a decent representation of what you were describing with the GT40 Ryan? Trying to get a feel for what you're talking about.

Watching the Vikes scrums play. Little rough, but not much worse than our starters. Ponder sure is jump the pocket happy, but looks reasonable at picking up pressure against 2nds'

Yeah, but you can't really tell by a damn recording, that's the bad part. It sounds completely different in person; like a big 4 banger.

Yea, I figured it wouldn't come through perfectly. Even in the video it sounds different than any V8 I've heard online. Have you actually seen an original in person? If so I'm jealous. I don't frequent car shows, but I've only seen kit cars at the shows I've been to.

V10s and V12s will have a higher pitch due to the firing order and pulse separation. There's just no way around it. Four and Six cylinder engines are similar, but inline engines can be an exception. If you ever get a chance, listen to a straight 8 Duesenberg or an old Ford flathead V8 with open pipes. Both will blow your mind.

Oh my god, Ford flathead flowing through some zoomies

Can you have an awesome exhaust sound, but in a way that it won't add much noise when listening to music?

Can good sound deadening ( I mean really good, with a good amount of money and labor put into it ) do the trick?

I won't be listening to music with the windows down. Windows up- music, windows down - engine music. :P

if you can cover the windows too, then yes. Otherwise self defeating

Weird, i hear very little of the exhaust with the windows up yet with the windows down it's clearly audible up to 2000rpm. Over that, the engine overwhelms it.

And it's probably the engine at fault for not hearing the exhaust with the windows up.

My truck has a VERY loud exhaust. (I'm actually not a fan over 3K because of the raspyness) but its only marginally louder than stock on the highway.

My dad has a 49 ford 2 door sedan with a Flathead straight 6 ... that thing sounds sweet !!! smoothe as a sewing machine !!!

I know he had at one time a 38 ford coupe with the flathead V8 with the 3 deuces (factory) ... Back when I was a kid ...

can't remember what it sounded like ...

I went kinda old school with my truck ... true duals with "Cherry Bomb" Glass packs and 2.5" pipes out the sides behind the rear tires ... fairly quiet going down the road with the windows up ... until you put yur foot in it ... :fing34:
