Welcome to the IHoP

Recommended Posts

I'm doing a prime rib on mine tomorrow. Haven't decided how I am collecting drippings and when I am doing the browning, but I'll probably just plop a pan of water underneath it. Half of me says brown first in the pan, half says brown after in a different pan and deglaze with the drippings (all)

Prime rib is my next venture. So any tips you have are welcome. :)

I love to eat prime rib and home made bread all soaked up in the drippings.

Humidity is so high I may forego the egg and do it on the rotis.

And I'll add one of my least favorite ways to eat wings is in "buffalo" sauce. So many other flavors that are worth playing with and wings are such a good platform.

One other thing, don't assume that just because they are smoked doesn't mean you can't fry them. Personally I just crisp up the skin on the grill, but an oil bath works too.

In this thread:

hey guys i was wondering if yall could help me out on my goal. I want to get to 150 on music daily/ground pounder or as close as i can get to 150 with the amount of space and power i have. To start off with i have a 275 amp Ohio generator alternator, most likely i am going to buy 1 or 2 xs d3100 batteries. Thats what my electrical is going to consist of. So for the amp i am go to buy a saz-3500. Now for subs i would have a budget of $700-$800 and i have about 8ft^3 to work with and thats after port and bracing displacements. I would also like to tune my box between 32-34hz as i listen to mainly nothing but rap music. let me know what yall guys have in mind.

I really wanted to reply:

150 on music is fine, but since you only listen to rap the goal is impossible. You'll have to change your listening preferences to listen to actual music if you want 150's on music.

Luke, I think I suck at the web. I cannot find any talls on O'neill's site. I'd buy one in a heartbeat if there were a LT...

The 15/15 was a guess and I chose that by figuring out the smallest angle where my toes won't drag on the frontside edge :)

Just to give you shits and giggles, I learned how to "wakeboard" when it was called skurfing because there was only Skurfer's available and nothing else. My grandfather had the first pair of water ski's in Northern MN and I learned how to snowboard on a Burton woody. ie a wood board with three metal fins in the back and NO edges. Lots of fun on the ice. I raced and taught snowboarding lessons in the early 90's, but have been off of all water (water or ice) sports for more than 10 years. Time to get back into it!!

I've seen those old snowboards lol I don't know how the fuck anyone rode them. Very cool to be involved in something like that since the beginning. Weird to think the sports relatively new. If you haven't been wakeboarding or wakesurfing since then I think you should have a pretty easy time with it after getting used to the boat and equipment. If you could get up on a skurfer I'm sure with the new equipment wakeboarding and wakesurfing will come naturally. It's a really fun hobby to get into or back into :P

Sean, I forgot to mention lifejackets. I don't know if you're already set for them or not, but a good neoprene life jacket is a smart investment. They're 1000X more comfortable than "normal" ones which makes a huge difference when you're out all day. I've always liked Oneil and Hyperlite.

Funny, am shopping for one in another browser in parallel :P On my old lake I'd just wear my wetsuit, but that isn't legal and on Tonka they'll probably do something. Floats enough to have someone save my life if necessary, but not coast guard approved. Frustrated with all I've tried on as they aren't long enough when they fit my chest.

Even the XL? Hmmmmm I wanna say that I've seen some XL longs before which are just longer for taller people. O'neil has a sizing chart on their website and the XLT is meant for people up to 6'5". If there's a dealer in your area you could try one on and see how the fit is. I've got an Assault and like it.

I am not XL, only tall. 43" chest...

Thanks for digging though, I hadn't been able to find a tall yet. Off to oneils site :)

If I remember right my dad wears an XL and hes 6"2 about 180? Maybe less, my family's really thin. I wear a normal large and I'm 6'0 and 150lbs. You definitely want to be comfortable though so make sure you've got a good fit before. I'll look around and see what I can turn up

Luke, my idea on the rope is that comfortable enough is okay since in the long run I'll hardly be using it :) Figure that a cheap one could be fine for that.

I think you've got the right idea. No reason spending tons of money on a rope if you're not going to be doing it a lot. Most people use a wakeboard or ski rope so that will easily be a step up from that.

By not a lot I meant I'll be dropping the rope very shortly :)

Everyone does lol it just takes patience. I've sworn I'll never wakeboard again so many times out of frustration, but once you get the hang of getting up it's all fun. It took me awhile to finally get it down, but I've seen people get up their first try.

Sean, I'm also kind of curious what kind of snowboard you ride. I'm guessing directional traditional camber? Being a park guy I ride a true twin reverse camber. Stepchild jibstick with union forces FTW. RC isn't good for speed, but they're so fun to ride. You just float and they've got ridiculous amounts of pop. I've been dying to try out a Bataleon with that TBT.

LOL. My snowboard is a 178 K2 Freeride circa 1988. Big bombing fast board, but with lip so you can do more than slalom.

That board is HUGE. I ride a 156 and that's pretty big for a park noodle. I started off on a 160 something Illuminati Pentagon series though so I've given that style of riding a try. Local runs suck ass though so it just wasn't able to hold my interest.

Here's where I found out about the O'neil T sizes O'neil Size Chart. Here's a screenshot of the chart just in case that link doesn't take you to the right place because the site is sorta weird.

So that leads me to believe they carry those sizes. Finding them is another story. I'll look to find O'neil dealers online. If that doesn't work I'd find a local one and call and see what sizes they offer. I'm not too sure how bad the mark up is at a store though. I'd be extremely surprised if nothing turns up online

Sean, I wasn't able to come up with much online so I grabbed a tape and found some jackets at the house and measured. I compared an O'neil XXL to a L and the length is identical. I measured the large by opening it and measuring from the top of the neck down to the bottom. It came out to be 23'. If you think that's ok for your height then you could just order a L. Found my jacket and its a medium so disregard my earlier post. Its been a few years since I've needed one, that's my excuse for pucking that up. The one I measured was an O'neil Assault. I have no idea how old it is though. I'm gonna say about 3 years?

When I searched around I found a few threads about it, but not much helpful info. Here's one and here's another. Both made by the same guy and didn't get many responses. There's another here but it won't let me view it without registering. I kept seeing a lot about overton lifejackets, but I've never used them so I can't really recommend them. O'neil seems to be the only manufacturer that offers a tall lifejacket, but I cant find many online retailers. I checked their site and all the retailers they list just sell their clothes and shit like that. If it were me I'd check a local boat shop and see if they have anything in stock or can order it. The O'neil LT would be perfect if you could get a hold of one.

What's wrong with rap...

Never said there was something wrong with it, just isn't recorded by musicians and therefore isn't music.

I have a Mike Weddington Full Tilt board from ~ 96 which is I think pretty modern in its function. Could slalom when I was 6.

Ah, that sizing is for wetsuits not jackets. Either way, I'll boat over to the BU dealer and see what he has that might fit. Tried Fleet Farm and the other budget alternatives to no luck this week. I have an old school vinyl one that still fits which is a lot more comfortable than the cloth in particular in cold water, but I do want a neo.

All good pads will have high carbon content and lots of dust. It's just a nuisance of high performance braking. You can of course change to ceramic pads and never have to worry about dust, but you'll also be sacrificing the braking performance.

Music is not recorded by musicians either. It's recorded by sound engineers. :P

Turns out the torque converter on the E55 imploded and was throwing shrapnel into the impeller, and subsequently the rest of the transmission. Makes sense now; hindsight is always 20/20 blah blah blah. New torque converter should be delivered to the shop Monday.
