You mentioned staying in state possibly. What about San Antonio? Riverwalk is kinda touristy but its set up pretty damn nice. Visiting the Alamo for Texans is like visiting Graceland for Elvis nuts, so that should prove fun. The strip bars were ok too.

Sean mentioned flights to Vegas for 350 a pop. At a 900 dollar budget that would still leave you with 550 to spend. I don't quite see how you'd spend that much on a little food..............Unless its 350 each way.

Either way man have fun, and that Naval Officer.............Have him put it ALL under his name. Hotel, show tickets, everything. All he needs to do is ASK about a discount. Hell you could if you really wanna be cheap stay on the Air Force Base in their hotel. Might be a pain in the ass for him to get you all on each time but it could happen with some finesse.

My SOLE purpose in ever going to Vegas (the city) is to go out to restaurants. Some of the best chef's in the world have places there. Spending $200 per person per evening isn't hard at all and if you are adventurous it should easily eclipse that. Personally I'd find it really crazy to be there and not experience it, but perhaps that is obvious from it being the only reason in my opinion to go near the city.

Best restaurant I have ever eaten at is Guy Savoy's in France. Conveniently he "recently" opened a spot in Vegas. Last time I ate there I spent more than the $550 you'd have left over...

Just looked at his website, the recommended menu is $750 per person. The cheapest is $198/person (outside of small appetizer menu stops which start at $120).

And YES, it is worth it.

Same if you go to Paris. To not visit real Bistro's at every meal is a HUGE mistake. Never understood spending $1500 on a plane ticket for a week vacation and not allocating at least that for food.

I'm buying into the Austin idea. If we wanted to go cheap there is a Condo for $250 total a night that will sleep everyone DIRECTLY on 6th street. There is also a bad ass lake house a few minutes out that would cost about $125/ per person a night. I wish we had a boat to bring because that would be perfect.

Considering your budget and real goals I'd think its better. I don't know anything about the strip clubs in Austin though, but considering how many billboards Dallas has and that it is a college town there have to be places to go to.

Doesn't the Kubota have some cold start aids ? My Cummins has a grid heater, can't complain about cold weather starting. And the Jeep has glow-plugs, it started no problem in -20*C.

Glow plugs... I really need to fix them ;).

Plus the diesel gels easily in the cold. I use biofuel.

Yeah, eating in Europe is a killer. Thanks to the VAT tax it is easy to spend $50 on breakfast alone. Hell, at McDonalds (I have kids so shoot me) in Rome was outrageous. 12 euro (~$15) for a Big Mac meal. Plus, be ready to pay for catchup... IIRC it was .25 euro a package. It isn't like our catchup either, there is no vinegar or garlic, it is just tomato. I bet we spent 2 grand for food for the week.

That is insane. I don't car how good the food is, it would never be worth those prices to me, unless it came with the best blow job by the hottest bitch on Earth, and since there is no such thing. . .

The food is amazing. Value is dependent of course on the diner.

Will do, this is also the kind of guy that got military discounts and out of police tickets without asking when he was in ROTC in high school.

There we go :P

You can get fuel heaters on the cheap, should help. But with even a bad plug it's not cool to do cold starts.

True that. If you like really good international cuisine you can't beat the homeland for it. Mexican food in Mexico is so different from mexican food anywhere else. The flavors are incredible. Italy, Greece, and Israel were the same. You just can't touch the food anywhere but where it originated.

Luckily they were in a chamber that was two lead doors away from me playing sine tones.

No personal experience but Uchi is probably the most raved about sushi bar in Austin, if not the state. Parkside is supposedly amazing as well.

Thanks for all the information guys. I talked it over with the Navy guy and hes going to ask everyone about it since they listen to him more. I really wish I could offer my uncle some cash to rent his boat and jetski for the weekend but I don't think it would be appropriate. But renting a boat cost something like $600 for a day which isn't too bad if you were 10 people looking to use it all day, but that wouldn't be our total goal, so it would be a bit wasteful I would think

Ouch that's a spendy price for a rental. You looking for a fast boat not a pontoon?
