I ocasionally like to PWN noobs. Or get PWNed. I don't have speakers on my PC and I now don't have the intention of putting any to it as I am networking it to my HT and eventually whole home.

Anyway, I want a headset. Comfort is #1, durrable and built well is #2. Sound quality must be great, but I'm not looking for music or movie depth, just extremely clear sound.

Plantronics 377 is the only one I have used personally. My roomate has it. It's ok for comfort, sounds ok, and since it's dirt cheep I might just get that one. It's a "bit" fragile though. It has been glued back together a couple times, and it's not put to abuse. He has put a few bajillion hours on them, but never beats them up. It's just made of brittle plastic.

I have seen 3 that I like on paper. Sennheisser 350, but it has a plastic/fake leather looking seal on the ear muff part and that blows. The Astro A40 looks to be top quality. Or lastly something from turtle beach, they also seam to get high comfort ratings.

I didn't think of it, but I doubt sound clarity is all that awesome. They would be durable I bet. I wonder if they come in 3.5mm audio and mic?

The ones I've seen have the 1/4" plug I think, but they make adapters. One of the grad students got his pilots license and he has a cheaper mid range set and it runs about 350$. They are really really nice though.

I honestly think the best way to do a turkey is seperate the dark and white and start the dark a bit sooner. It's not as awesome on presentation though..... Then again my familly usually carves in the kitcken and not directly at the table....

Me neither, but I think that is cultural and not real. EVERY other type I have had I have been amazed at. The choice of accompaniments that the Japanese have developed for nearly every flavor is outstanding. Their food has so much detail it is amazingly easy to screw up, although at the same time in general it is also very simple to do. If I "knew" it was safe I'd be more than happy to give it a go.

Nothing directly. I've never had a desktop mic though and thought it would definately pick up more in room sound than a boom mic at my mouth. I also have never even considered cans as I don't particularly like the on ear approach and a lot of what I looked at (read grados) are on ear. I like the around the ear style if I am going to wear it for extended time.

I like to roast mine like I saw Alton Brown do: 500 for about a half hour, pull it, cover the breast in tin foil, drop the oven to 350 and wait until the probe thermometer goes off. On his program he set his for something like 160, but 155 gives better results. Like any giant hunk of critter you gotta wait 30 minutes or so to carve into it, but its worth the wait.

combine that with a brine and you have yourself an awesome bird

Alton's skin did not get the finish I am looking for, but wasn't far off. Just like with any beast the skin is where it is at. I may buy a cheap bird this weekend and give it a go. Figure I can just freeze the meat when I am done and premake some stock for Thursday so that I can expedite the gravy making process.

The tenting idea is appropriate though as the breast shouldn't really hardly break 160F.

I guess you could try it with no tin foil on the breast, see if gets crispier? I did it one year where I let it go for ~40 minutes at 500 before tin foil and dropping it to 350, skin turned out pretty good

I grew up eating in a chinease home cooking enviroment though and the things I have tried there are WAY more extreme than anything Japanese

Any recomendations? I would much prefer sealed style for the cans.

I thought the stand alone mics would just suck. you're right on the mute though, even if I had a boom mic I would still be muted most of the time.

I wouldn't mind some grado's but in the realm of "open" they are seriously "open".

I also like the relatively cheep price, and I could probably find a shop to try them out, rather than buying something I haven't listened too. I'm a bit affraid of the on ear though. Could you wear them for 8 hours? I would stick with my in pro audio type buds, but those get anoying after 3-4 hours even with breaks.

Have you used them with an Ipod or mp3 off your computer and do you use a headphone amp?
