Quick question for you pros here in the hop.

Im working on getting a self propelled lawnmower running again. The lawnmower is in great condition.

I have changed the oil and cleaned up the spark plug.

I prime the little bubble about 4-5 times, pull the string, it starts for about 5 seconds then dies.

So it is only running on what i prime into the engine. So my plan tomorrow is to take the carb off and clean it up.

Any other things i should look for?

I try to get sleep, but Gavin will not allow it. He woke me up this morning by pulling my armpit hair. OF course he found it so entertaining he's been trying to do it all morning. Just one weekend I would like to get 8 hours of sleep or at least sleep past 8AM.

I know the feeling. Little Arthur had a nightmare at 5:20 this morning. So I went in and scooped him up so he could sleep next to me. Needless to say for the next 3 hours he kicked me in the kidneys and elbowed me in the nose a few times. But I don't care. :)

I will not let Gavin in bed with me. I would love to cuddle with him every night, but I feel he needs to stay in his own bed. He still sleeps in his crib at his mom's house, but he has a big boy bed here. It gives him the freedom to get out when he wants, but I'm pretty strict and he doesn't get out of bed unless he absolutely needs to or he is having a fit, and when he does get out, I put him right back in it.

We almost never let him sleep in the bed with either of us, but with what is going on now, I want him near me as much as possible. :)

random question: any good reference books for sports nutrition/body building supplements? websites are nice and all but I like having physical copies to thumb through

What kind of info are you looking for? Lots and lots and lots of books. I've read 30 plus books from the real basic general ideas and all the way down to extreme finite information.

well I wrote a sweet reply but it didn't post..

I really liked the Men's Health Hard Body Plan book. It really seems to focus on good nutrition for someone who wants to be active and gain muscle, not like a body builder on the net who says PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN!!!!

1 gram of protein per pound of body weight is enough for most guys doing moderate resistance work outs. The reason that most BB guys grind the protein idea in is because 95% of people do not get enough protein in general from healthy sources.

Probably 75% of guys in a gym or playing a sport don't get enough. Case in point. My roomate started to dial in his work outs and the simple act of adding 6 eggs for breakfast and eating protein ever 3 hours helped him gain 15 solid pounds at 40% to his bench and nearly double his curl basically. No suplements. Just eggs and protein shakes. Without it he would gas and loose power halfway through a set.

We forget that we are omnivores first and that it's only been a verry short time we have had grains in our diets. Fat and protein is the ideal source of nutrition for humans. Vegis are like turbo charging that process. They provide vitamins and fiber, but they aren't available year round. Humans sustained off meat and fatty vegitation and that's probably the reasons our breans grew is the high intake of healthy fats. The human machine can live without carbohydrates, but it cannot survive without certain fatty acids or amino acids. There is no "essential" carbohydrate.

any supplement info in there or just diet, recipe and nutrition info?

Basically what you need to hear. Multivitamins are good insurance, the rest you basically don't need unless you are proven to be deficient, creatine can be beneficial and taking protein powders isn't absolutely necessary.

This is why the big guys pound it over and over again... No it's not nesicarry, but deficient for a desk jockey who doesn't do anything is much different that an active guy. I'm not saying flood your body with so much your wreck your kidneys by having 200 grams of protein 6 times a day but it's really hard to get enough protein for most guys without suplementing in whey or some other shake etc.

I prime the little bubble about 4-5 times, pull the string, it starts for about 5 seconds then dies.

Any other things i should look for?

Depends on a few things really. Does the priming bubble seem slow to recover? That is, does it stay collapsed? On the carburetor, does it have 2 fuel lines coming into it? What brand? On the carburetor, does it have a bowl or are the lines a direct feed into the side of a small square shaped carb?

A few things come to mind. If it does not have a bowl, I see a lot of the pump diaphragms go bad, and a carburetor rebuild is on the menu. These carbs are really simple, just a few parts really. Just get a sharp razor blade, a can of carb cleaner, and the carb kit from your local NAPA. Keep the gaskets you take off the carb in order, as you will see several gaskets in the kit that you won't use, and each has some very slight differences. Really the only thing that I see go bad on these (unless you leave it sit and the gas goes sweet) is that diaphragm, and replacing it should be all you have to do. The diaphragm will be under a plate that has a round bulge on it. But I like to clean all the passages with the carb cleaner real good.

Second, if it has 2 fuel lines I see those stupid lines break inside the tank all the time. While the single line that feeds the bulb may be good and it will prime, the one that feeds the pump diaghram will be busted and you will see a lot of air bubbles in it, or it will be void of fuel altogether.

Third, if the bulb has a hard time recovering you either have a collapsed of clogged fuel line, or a clogged carburetor port that is creating a vacuum on the line prohibiting fuel feed.

Another Question

I use Nationwide for all my homeowners, automotive, and landlord insurance. Generally you get discounts if you choose to carry multiple policies with the same company. It is worth asking your agent about.

behold, the new Ford Exploder

It is attractive, and I know people are flipping out because it is much less truck then it used to, but it makes sense business wise and practicality wise for Ford.

"Dear Sir,

Your order 100719110540 left Monday July 19th via expedited parcel post. However, we may have sent you the wrong unit as we only had one 10” and one 12” before we sent your order and we now have one 10” and no 12” driver. Therefore when you receive your order, can you let us what model you actually received so we can take the appropriate action.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Regards, "

So I ordered another Aura 10" driver, and then I got this email a few days later. Lovely, concidering that shit is coming from Canada and takes for fucking ever to get here. Not to mention how hard its going to be to give them the 12" back, I know I am just going to want to keep it.
