For users of the keyboard Windows 8 is a big step up from WIndows 7. If you are mouse reliant you will feel the other way. The Metro view (or ie start button) is useless as a visible shell and still confuses the operation of things, but starting programs you want to use is WAY easier with a keyboard than it has been since 3.1. :woot:/>

Almost got a win8 laptop for aunt, but since I haven't used win 8 I would have to figure it out to teach her so I opted for google chrome.

Basically give myself a break for a week. Cut back volume and intensity.

For that sort of user it wouldn't be a good solution

Yeah I figured the chrome book should be pretty intuitive, and perfect for her basic needs.

Actually anxious to check it out after she opens it. :P

The problem with Windows 8 for the unpc capable is the Metro screen is hard to bypass. I don't use it for anything other than being a start button. As a start button it is more capable than the old one. Still funny where some things are hidden.

There is something wrong with our exchange server. I've used 1.6gB of data on mail in the past day and a half since getting the DNA. Of course, I am also synchronizing a new PC so that might compound it a bit. I don't understand why as I am only sync'ing the inbox, but it is definitely using data.

I'm presuming emails aren't deleted off the server, so it's copying a shitload over to the new phone, but 1.6gb is still way more than I'd anticipate. When I did my new phone I think it was only a few hundred mb.

So Itunes has been horribly slow for the last few months. Insane lag on the scroll-bar when going through artist list. Literally some Hindu patience teaching shit.

I also kept getting prompts to update, and kept ignoring as I figured it would be more bloat shit, and be even worse. Finally updated today and I can scroll!!!!!!!

*Enjoying the small things in life* :woot:

I only have my Inbox and one sub-folder backed up. No attachments downloaded and the total is currently a whopping 40-50 emails as I've been keeping it clean.

That being said, my PST file is many gB's and is currently being copied onto my new computer. Perhaps the server is stupid and keeps sending "inbox changed" messages to the phone to re-download.

The other option is that it hung on trying to download one of the emails and keeps retrying. This is I think might be likely since it only shows emails from yesterday on the phone. It did have some from overnight this morning, but the heavy data use started after 9am and I had already cleared those. Not sure how to tell it to stop trying what is causing it to fail.

Definitely goofy.

Do you also use the exchange calendar? Ever since my father switched his calendar from a palm he always has problems. First I copied everything to Google Calendar, and synced to phone. Then quickly noticed not everything was syncing over. Sometimes a change on the PC would show up on the phone in thirty seconds, sometimes it'd take a day. Way too sketchy for work. Setup an ms exchange account, and copied calendar over. Used ms outlook 2007 on desktop to connect, but it didn't sync everything over to the server, so we use the online client instead which works. Syncs on phone. Only problem is the online client doesn't let you search the calendar--fucking stupid.

Then I tried the Icloud calendar from Apple with my Ipad (as a test if he got an Iphone), and it synced perfectly. Only problem is their online icloud app doesn't let you search the calendar either, and they haven't released a full desktop client for win. Well actually part of that Itunes update downloaded some Icloud client, so I'm crossing my fingers that actually works.

Just tried the Icloud program, and it's pointless.
