Any reason to not buy an ASUS Zenbook?

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16834230171

I currently only have 108gb drive on my laptop, sure I'd like more for music but that fuxors me into a power hog.

Primary goals: travelability, good screen

Uses: Office/Powerpoint and Internet

Processor is slower than what i currently have but I'd take battery life, less heat and lighter weight as the compensators. Plus at $1k I can buy a new one in a year.

FWIW my son's i3 current gen is 2.3gHz I am surprised at the first gen i5's lack of processing. My i5 (second gen) isn't noticeably faster then my son's. ASUS makes a damn nice rig. FWIW I think that SSD is a bit small. I would opt for a larger drive, if it were me. Hell, I have 60gigs of music on my work laptop, and with all my scanning and flash programming software I am pushing 100gig excluding my documents, images, and other programs. Your backups will hammer the drive space too.

But USUS makes a nice rig, and if the drive space fits the bill it should be a good, and reliable, rig for you.

Looked at that in person, screen sucks donkey dick in comparison.

That's actually my biggest problem. Saw the IPS screen on it and pretty much everything else looks like shit.

Just carry the hans G with you everywhere.

My eyes absolutely get exhausted using the Hanns G. Great bang for the buck, but it's a terrible monitor.

Weird..... It is one of the easiest on my eyes I have ever used.

You'd love my desktop monitor then.

Centric Rotors $800

Centric 29101-05130599 & Centric 29101-05130598

http://www.partsgeek.com/cart/

EBC Red or Yellow? from ebcrotors.com ~210 red, 260 yellow

Am I nuts? Way cheaper than OE stuff and I figure as good. Way open to saving money here as this is actually mine. *pukes*

Link no workie from my phone.

That's why I listed part nubmers.

1) Is parts geek ok

2) Centric rotors ok

I assume yes to both, but I don't buy brakes so often smile.png

Centric rotors are okay for a Camry. Wouldn't put them on the Benz. Brembo should be OEM IIRC. Have you tried Rock Auto?

Why are you wanting such an aggressive pad? I had the Greens on the Cobra and they worked wonders and that's their street pad.

I had tried 2 months ago when I first searched and of course now Rock stock's those Centric Premium's and a Ferodo. I figured the Premium would be better. 350mm FR and 330mm RR so there aren't too many choices.

As for the pads, the stock ones are super aggressive. I was hoping to get away with Red, never thought about softer. Have to last 12,000mi though so I can sell it otherwise I don't give a shit.

Rock also has some cheapo's, but not sure I trust Centric pads, Juric, or Bendix. Have Raybestos for $30 though...

So, one thing that is importing when tuning a system is playing with the phase of individual speakers. Im curious if anyone has thought of using DPDT switches?

related question, can the minidsp switch phase on individual channels?

I always prefer to do that in software, not hardware.

MiniDSP can invert the phase. On the same page as the time delay.

I carry a TB external full of music although I've been contemplating offering the difference to my company if I buy the one that has a 32gb SSD and a 500gb internal. Of course it's $500 and I'm pretty sure I could just configure it like that myself. Only problem is that 32gb isn't quite enough for everything but music which means the power hog would need to spin.

Upgrading to a 256mb is $300 and considering I can get a rather rippin' one for less than $300 and keep the 128/sell I don't think paying extra for it makes sense.

As for backups those all go to my home server. Normally sync once a week and then that gets redundantly copied to external's once a month. Allows me to move all non-critical things to where I can reach them anywhere in the house anyways. Centralizes the music and control then too.

I have Centrics on the Camry, but only because they were cheap. For my "normal" cars I like to use Satisfied products. For my performance vehicles, I like Brembo rotors if they fit, and Hawk or EBC pads depending on the need.

It sort of looks like I can choose Centric or EBC. Centric are $200, EBC are $400, OE are even more.

listen to what I say

If you want a better place to live in

spread the words today

show the world that love is still alive

you must be brave

or you children of today are

Well, that's a no-brainer there. Do NOT buy Centric pads!

On the same page as the time delay.

thanks!

Just trying to think a head this time around. i'd really like to ditch the hu and go with 1 or 2 minidsp's. I'm really liking the idea of a 7" tablet as the "head unit". shame you cant tweak the setting on the minidsp with the tablet.

I wonder if that's a possibility for the future. Their software is based on Adobe Air, so I don't see why it would be too hard for them to port to android os.

Tablet has mini-usb type connection?

Full USB converter so anything should be possible
