:woot: fuck you best buy.

Just managed to get my external HDD to speak nicely to the tab. :) The boat will now get my FULL music collection and I can limit the extra SD cards for kiddy video's for in the car.

And yes, the bimbo's at BB told me NO WAY could it be done. Gotta love Android. Cheaper than an Ipod, as much internal storage, 7" screen, built in infrared so I don't need a TV remote anymore, better music player, can use my cell phone as an internet connection wireless, and is plenty fast.

I've had more apple products than PC based ones...but won't buy anymore. Of course my last Apple product I bought in 1991. ROFL.

I love my zune. sucks that everyone jumped on the apple bandwagon so everything chose to support them. Glad my 80prs lets me connect my droidx

Curious what about it makes you say that.

I could list the negatives, but am only interested really in the positives.

It really is a shame that something more universal wasn't adopted. It would be awesome to have that kind of support without being limited by Apple. It's really a shame that I don't have an easy way to play all my lossless music in my vehicle currently.

I only have an Ipod because Alpine's interface with USB drives for old HU's sucks donkey balls. While the Ipod interface is alright.

My install is solving that problem. No more headunit. Done with those forever I think.

Well, I prefer the interface and how it's setup.

The Overall compatibility with... well everything.

I personally prefer Itunes

Just the over all feel is very slick and just seems to "work" I don't know..

My 80prs has a 1tb hard drive with roughly 500 gigs of music on it currently. It reads in roughly 20 secs.

Also more head units are starting to become android compatible which I am also happy about.

I didn't realize that was different with other players.

Compatibility sure, that would be the killer. If you have something that controls it that won't control something else, but those days are soon to be over if they aren't already.

Personally I've waited until, well, this week to buy any. All of them had concerns that I couldn't get beyond. Not enough storage, $$$$, and capability to sort and control my music collection being the top. I gambled that the Tab would speak to an external HDD (couldn't find a single post on a forum that said it would) and found out about 30 minutes ago my gamble paid off. I have a couple external HDD's. One is going in the boat, the other the car. Still have 40gb of in unit storage and 500gb externally. It means I get to compress some things, but my playlists and all data can be intermingled and shared. Easily synchronized when changes occur as well. No more multi-unit management or worrying where what is. AND I can completely control my whole home automation system with it.

I could nearly all the above with an Ipad (except the HDD data which would require a 3 Ipods) but it'd be WAY more money and a super cludgee interface.

Add to that it is also my smart remote for the TV and has a built in TV guide which regrettably is slicker than the one I have implemented in my home automation for things currently playing and I am happy.

Going to search for a couch keyboard for typing on forums and then it'll be completely complete. :P

How do you search through 500gb on a headunit? I tried with an 80gB and got pissed!!

lol finding certain things can be difficult sometimes. I do need to sort everything into better folders (rock, metal, rap, comedy, etc)

But mostly I just put it on random and listen like that.

I absolutely love this keyboard with my Logitech Revue. Of course you can find it for a better price else where. I'm not exactly sure what it uses to transmit, but it works really well and you don't have to worry about a mouse.

Seriously though, I love that thing and my Logitech Revue with Google TV. It's really sad it didn't take off.

I really need to learn how to program Android. I think with a decent front end software you could have a killer "HU" inteface.

With the size of the tab2, I could fit a 7" screen, a 2tb HDD and an optical drive EASILY in a standard 2 din area. The interface could also be sold to those who want to use it with there current tablets.

I'm thinking of mounting my 10.1" Prime in the truck and will just cover the HU up. need to find a way to charge it, and get optical out to run directly to the H701.

Don't need a headunit interface. Music player + analog volume knob. Bam! Can do 2.1 active with a signal miniDSP INCLUDING volume knob for $101+ shipping.

Google TV doesn't buy me anything, but a mouse keyboard package to work with the Droid does. Can you mate it with yours?

To get 2tb to work you need to download software and format it as Fat32. Windows won't let you format Fat32 beyond 32gb. Once you do that the Tab will read it. :)

Has to have an external power supply. My thermaltake laptop drive enclosure has a second USB for power which you can connect to a 12v source....or so I will.

All valid points.

Personally Android feels a bit clunky in general. Even though I have an android phone and love it I would probably still go back to an iPhone.

Personally I prefer one screen with all of my apps on it that doesn't scroll around.. only from left to right.

My plan on the "no head unit" is to hide a laptop somewhere and mold an external screen into the dash. That's it.

I'll probably implement some knobs in the steering wheel like volume control and song changing.
