That lean gains is an interesting concept. I don't agree with some of the premise, but if it is working for him and his clients then awesome.

At the core I follow a similar routine, but my "fasting" time involves protein.

Would you care to explain your process? I feel like I've been trying everything and nothing is working. I've been working out with a good friend almost everyday.. I can now almost bench my body weight 3 reps can run 4 miles and bike 40 miles but I can't seem to drop any weight. Also, I according to my roommate's scale I also haven't lost a single bit of body fat

What's your diet? You eat after all the workouts?

Personally I don't need the benefits of losing fat, but the routine has been working well for me (been about a month now) for strength.

Don't wash with warm water but I have a suspicion you already did..

I never had issues with rash from sanding FG.

i must have sensitive skin because it was already inflamed minutes after sanding and before washing it off. wasn't really sweating as it was about 50 degrees F in the garage. luckily it cleared up within 24 hours, i'll avoid the hot water next time haha.

I have a 4 day split right now. Back, legs, chest, then another day for abs and to catch up any body parts I feel I need to work on more. Usually triceps, biceps, and calves. Shoulders sometimes.

I do extremely intense cardio right when I wake up 5 days a week. Only 15 min max right now. I also do cardio on the weekday I do not lift.

My diet is lean protein and healthy fats other than right after I lift. I then consume about 40-60 grams of dextrose or other sugar. I am eating a lot of eggs, tuna, and shakes right now as it is cheep. I don't feel I need to cut out all carbs so sometimes I do have a sandwich with bread.

The only product I will swear by, by brand name is Udo's oil. I love that shit. Near and dear to my heart. That fat product helps me in so many ways. Truly and honestly I think consuming good fats helps you loose fat. It also helps to regulate hormones. You can't even digest some vitamins without it.

At the end of the day our bodies require certain fats and certain proteins just to function. As in needed to live. There is no essential carbohydrate that must come from an outside food source. Our body can metabolize prot or fat into the needed glucose.

I don't know your exact routine but I would start pulling away from your long distance running and pedaling and focus on intense lifting. 6 reps max. As soon as you can push out 8 reps, increase the weight. Also make your cardio super intense to make your lung capacity stronger. 25 min of sprint/jog cardio is worth an hour of jogging in my book.

Lastly and most importantly eat protein every 3 hours. Just do it. Set a watch. Drink a protein shake, eat jerky what ever. Drink water too, but make sure you get protein every 3 hours. I have trained more guys who think they eat enough but stay fat because they just don't feed their bodies. That makes your body start to store calories.

I was having a bad day today. Shoulders and back hurt. Went to the gym to stretch and hit the hot tub, but was still down in the dumps.

Had to go to menards and the little register girl litterally sniffed me blatantly and said "You smell sooooo good." then her eyes go huge, she blushed and fumbled the change and kept saying sorry for being a "creeper"

Made my fucking day. Hardware store chicks FTW.

I thought you were selling your house Sean?

I am, which explains why I didn't sound deaden the shit out of the HT room. Going to finish a few projects and make it $$.

I'll have less than $1.5k into the HT room and it adds 400sq ft to the house. It'll put us up near 5000 and have a dedicated room for pretty much everyone. 5 bedrooms, workout room, billiards room, home theater/kids play room, storage room, two living rooms, sun room, dining room, big eat in kitchen. Stereo and automated lights run to it all. Partly going to suck to leave, but if it allows me to buy lake front I'm happy.

I'm beat, making headway. Mostly new electrical pulled, walls up, HVAC re-routed, and a thousand other oh shit forgot that things done. Insulating and sheetrocking tomorrow after I pull out the 14/2 I pulled to the outlets and replace with 12/3. 20A circuit for the theater room...

photobucket-23349-1334456845717.jpg

The coffered ceiling looks good!! As do the can lights. Funn Funn

Thanks, the coffered ceiling hides the HVAC and will have 12 little mini- can lights pointing at the wall. I'm going try to cut those out tomorrow, but I don't want to get in the way of the taper. Hired the damn taping out completely so I don't fucking waste 10gal of mud/

Congrats on the weight loss. smile.png Not being at that job helping?

Yes. Way less stress. In the gym 2 times a day sometimes.

Lots of hot tub sets!

OhYeah.gif

Hot tub sets ?

Yes after many lifting sets, I go sit in the hot tub. I call this hot tub sets.

Makes sense now.

Congrats on the progress smile.png

I'm not progressing as fast on weight but strength is definitely going up

He's lying. He bench presses me sitting in a hot tub on weekends. We keep his wife in the kitchen in shit while it's happening.

Oh and ill talk to the fairy later, im currently on mobile.

From everything I've learned:

Saturated fat is good for you, while polyunsaturated and monounsaturated isn't.

Too much sugar is bad, regardless of the source, ie: soda, or a huge plate of fruit. Personally the only sweet things I eat are a cup of berries for my protein fluff.

Grains cause inflammation, but potatoes are alright.

Id pick a high fat low carb diet any day over low fat high carb.

Only dairy I eat is cottage cheese for fat and protein.

No processed food.

More vetagables, although I still eat tons of red meat and salmon.

Almost sounds like my diet...except I don't run from grain. I love bread and pasta and have no issues with them.

I am not trying to lose or gain though, just eat healthy and yummy. Did I mention yummy?

Oh, and fuck salmon. It's the chicken of the sea. And yes I avoid eating chicken, it's a fucking nasty animal. Any protein you have to cook to 170F cannot be good. I know you don't have to cook salmon that much but ANY cooking on a salmon and it's ruined. Raw or bust.

I don't care for chicken, and when I have salmon, it's always raw.

The HT room is coming along quickly. :)

I think they're telling you to rabbet joint the wood. A dado blade works good if you have one, then notch pipe to fit tight.

I don't have dado's....but have a router installed on my table saw so that is no problem.

What I didn't follow was it sounded like a double rabbet was being recommended.

I thought double rabbet also until the latest sketch up.

I dont think he'll need any rabbets given the PVC's natural spring to roll in on itself once he cuts it.

I dont think a rabbet joint is needed either. IF anything I would leave a tab in the middle of the PVC and do a mortise and tenon in the middle. Would lock together like Lego's!

Love it, completely hadn't thought about doing that. smile.png

I would think you could plunge cut in the middle and from the ends and leave two tabs.

Something like this? Not to scale, but I wanted to translate your recommendation. The rear wall of the 10 would look like the front wall of the 8 so that would be rigid. The 8 would also have a face in the rear to attach to, but it'll be hidden. The 10 is then attached via the mortise & tenon and rear face. Obviously I'll add wood strips to hide the recesses but then the visualization wouldn't work :)
