I don't agree with the trade either :P

In fact, I'm thoroughly confused by it. Perhaps the confusion was the point of the AMG in the first place. You and I obviously do not drive in similar fashions :fing34:

Thinking about going sealed for my next enclosure. I modeled the xcons in sealed vs ported, ported is already fairly flat, or with a lower tuning it's nearly identical to sealed but with more output. What exactly makes the difference in sound between sealed and ported?

You just described it :)

Well then. I'm either tuning very low (assuming I can get the port length) or going sealed. :)

Going to look something like this:

May just do sealed since the port length might be a complete bitch to try and fit (say 20hz tuning), plus 18" driver will have tons of output for me (at this time  )

I'll have to do some more tuning with the ms8, perhaps crossover the mids a little higher.

In car that tuning buys you nothing over sealed. At some point cabin gain builds up the bottom of the sealed such that with no "peak" in the ported in that range you get no gain. At 20 Hz, you will successfully manage to have your enclosure be way larger, more complicated, might even end up with a nasty port resonance (which Ram Designs I guess calls a T-line), and have no extra output and just extra complexity.

Also remember when you are looking at "flat" that you can easily eq out peaks if they are within reason and that your ears sensitivity and capability of resolve in that frequency range is multiple dB's so some peak/non-flat response is more than fine.

If you don't need the extra couple dB boost then by all means ported isn't a benefit.

I don't get into any hype of "tuning low to kill the low notes, blah blah blah" but 20hz seemed to make the FR pretty damn flat in relation to sealed, but in modeling it's only a 1-2dB increase.

Sounds like I should do sealed then. :dancing:

Beautiful :)

Is that what you ended up with or just found those?

Another option is just powder coating the stock ones black. :)

Finally found something that doesn't have a shit ton of chrome.

Werd, Chrome don't get you home!

Unless you are using Chrome to browse Google Maps directions to your house...

And most of those dumbasses leave 5dB on the table where they'd actually want it if they truly understood what "low" was instead of just reciting internet garbage.

Peaks and impedance, but that's about it.

Generally a flat response will translate into an exaggerated low end in-car to the point where it can be annoying and quite a narrow bandwidth. Of course some of use prefer a bandwidth of only 20-50Hz on subwoofers anyways.

Thanks. :)

Found a stellar deal on a hertz amp locally. The used xcon I was looking at sold, getting a pair of dcons. Pretty excited to finally have a well rounded setup.

Chrome wheels are all that belong on black vehicles. Nothing looks better. You may choose to argue against this, but it's an exercise in futility and you are incorrect. There's just no way around it.

Too much chrome on a black car looks tacky.

My flat black + a little bit of chrome = good

The bitch appears blonde to me.

Yeah, weather here has been horrible so the lighting sucks. Here's one I found on google images that shows the color more accurately; Hyundai calls it Laguna Sand

Yes, blonde. I would consider a brunette brown, as would most other people too.

Tan is a shade of brown

I consider brunette to be brown as well, but who cares, lol. The car looks great, I average mid to high 30's with mine.
