Pretty embarassing if you need to take that after high school

The junior college started this program (as well as a PTAC program) in cooperation with the chemical plants and the nuke plant in the area a few years ago. As a result, there are a lot of senior employees teaching the technical courses. The first year of the nuke program, in order to entice students into the program, said nuke plant guaranteed employment to all future graduates of the program.

Then people started graduating from the program and working out at the plant and it become apparent almost overnight that the guaranteed employment was a bad idea. A very, very, very, very, very, very bad idea.

Said graduates (the majority of which attended/graduated from the same school district) were woefully unprepared for even the most basic of the junior college courses and graduated by the skin of their teeth. The senior employees/professors (a few are family friends of ours) got extremely pissed at the dumbassery.

As a result, an asston of basic math and science courses are now required for completing the degree plan, since this school district apparently has not/is not preparing them properly

Isn't basic Algebra a jr. high class?

I had it in the 6th grade.

what are you guys talking about. Ive seen that course selection in my community college

:roflmao:

I had to take a basic algebra class for my electrical apprenticeship and there were people in the class in their 30s and 40s who couldn't grasp the simple concept of greater than and less than. I will never forget this as the professor said he taught his 5th graders to call it and alligrator since the symbols resemble an open mouth.

I was the one in 5th grade drawing the teeth in the signs

the alligator's open mouth always points to the larger number

8 > 3

3 < 5

etc.

I was taught the arrow points to the smaller number

Wish I had a bag of sweet dreams. All I have is adrenaline fueled drowsiness if that makes any sense.

Back from my short vacation to Minnesota to see my friends and family. It was a good trip and I'm glad I got out of Minnesota before the storm really hit hard. Felt bad for my mom driving back from Minneapolis in the nasty weather though.

Cheese - sorry to hear about the 350z. Any aches and pains after a couple days?

For those of you with gripes about the government agencies, all I will say is there are some who are in a constant fight to dispel the barrage of boneheads. peepwall.gif

I don’t think someone should have to serve to be a politician. I think someone should have to do some form of civil service to vote though. Some way of supporting our military.

I was more saying that the military shouldn’t have social or civil climate rules made by a bunch of people who aren’t involved. They have their own legal system and executive system. They should have ultimate say in their legislative also. I think DADT is garbage. So are the homophobic people involved. But it’s not my job to make them feel the way I do, the moment I do that then I might as well step in line with them because I’m just as guilty.

We don’t need it to change to function. It’s not risking lives to keep DADT going. The brass doesn’t like it, and from my personal experiences the guys on the bottom don’t like it either. So if almost everyone involved doesn’t want it…..

I can see ur point on all this.

But my question is when you say the brass and the guys on the bottom dont like it, are you meaning the repeal or DADT period?

Honestly i don't give a fuck if someone is gay and in the military..

every homophobic politician that's in this keep saying shit like "what if we have to huddle for warmth" "do we have to bunk with gays". WHAT fucking person would go through BMT, Tech school, then go to war time JUST TO SNEAK A PEEK AT A STRAIGHT Man's DICK.

Does this make any fucking sense?

no

Republican Senators need to STFU already and pass the Zagroda bill; fucking dicks

damn straight. did you watch the daily show thursday night?

The daily show isn't news. It's like NBC, just some comedians making jokes to people who pretend to be smart enough to understand the jokes, but really just laugh on reflex.

regardless of your opinion on how funny the comedy is. your right the daily show isn't news. its fake news and entertainment. while the "Real News" is the joke. the punchline is that there's more accuracy from a fake new show in 30 mins then the whole 24 hour new cycle. its perfectly clear that at least the cable news channels have clear narratives as to what they decide is news worthy. fox being the best example.

My issue is limited to how people are going to react to it. I dont think we need the added stress of people being against it. For some people its religous, for some its how they were brought up, and others its personal.

I'll just say this man, its uncomfortable enough having to do a piss test with someone lookin at ur cock watching u try to piss in a little cup. Having another guy glaring at you when you hop out of a lukewarm shower beacuse there isnt much hot water, is not exactly the most comfortable feeling in the world.

Hell its bad enough when people try and talk while in the showers add in someone meat gazing, and its just awkward city.

I am not homophobic. I have been friends with a few homosexual men and women. Most of them were the most caring kind people I have ever known. Do I have a personal objection to serving with them in the military? No. Do I have a problem with them having a picture of them and their 'life partner' on their desk like most of us have the wife and/or kid? NO. My issue would only be is if they guys were bullshitting baout the chick they picked up this weekend and we had one of the homosexuals come up and start talking about slamming/being slammed by another guy. That for me is uncomfortable. But if we allow them to serve openly one of two things happen

1) We now have to FURTHER watch who is around when we have 'guy talk'

2) we have to endure they stories too........and I dont see that happening.

i dont know if we have any musically inclined guys who frequent the HOP but if you are, im thinking about learning guitar... i've been thinking about it for quite a long time and im pretty determined to learn. im a big gamer and after seeing the new rock band game actually releasing a guitar through fender that is a working guitar as well as an actual controller (basically there are sensors along the neck of the guitar to detect your fingers)made me interested in giving it a try. trust me if i spent half the time i usually spend playing COD or halo on learning guitar it would not take long to learn at all..

of course the price is a bit ridiculous considering you need the guitar @ 280 bucks, game @ 30-40 bucks used, and a midi adapter @ 40 bucks.

im sure some of you might be turned off to the price but what are your opinions?

No game will teach you how to play. If you want to learn, start with classical.

The real question is long term what are your goals...

just looking to pick it up as a hobby, i'll continue doing it as long as its still entertaining to me. maybe it would be better to think of the game as a learning tool. the songs you play use the exact cords, etc as "real life".

my dad has a classical (or acoustic guitar) in the house somewhere, i would have to see if it is in working condition but it might make for a better starting point then 300 dollars in gear.

Question is... What stops them from looking already?

When you sign up they don't ask if your straight or gay.. they tell you to keep it to yourself.. Just because you're not out... doesn't mean you're not in the military..
