the rear end is cut and pasted from an Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione

:peepwall:

that squared off shelf butt the Vette has had for 40 some odd years is what I was referring to:

I thought it was a vette with some italian influence

May be late to the party but not a bad guess. I thought it was some chop job for the show. It looks 3bajillion times better in those pics than on the show.

Where are you finding these total randoms?

Seems our Mercury outboard has both a low pressure mechanical lift pump and a high pressure electric fuel pump. I can honestly say I've never seen a lift pump on a gasoline powered engine before.

manual recommends a 25w-40 type motor oil; thinking I can just dump in some 30 weight and be done with it..

random thought since this is a boat we're talkin bout here; if its too cold to mow its too cold to boat, you know?

As long as it doesn't freeze it is safe.

I just replaced one yesterday in a Ford F150 pickup truck with dual tanks. I also see them a lot on European cars, and my GN also has one.

Looks like plenty of places online with NMMA FC-W certified 25w-40 and 10w-30 for about 4-6 a quart, that'll work; basically 25 bucks to change the oil in this thing

another 7-10 for the gearcase, power trim uses just plain ole ATF

Sooooo... somehow water has been getting into dash and from my POV I was sure the GEM and fuse box were fuxored. Leaks usually due to windsheild, and it coinsided with me replacing it, and some of the weather stripping from that replacement comming off due to shoddy work.

I thought ALT was bad then starter etc. All this elec crap indirectly related but not due to faulty GEM. 2 shops, no answer and Ford said they wouldn't touch it for less that 800 bucks and that's without finding why/where leak is.

I was afraid that I was the one who screwed something up somehow and didn't want to mess with the dash and make it worse so I could only diagnose slightly and didn't want to eff up my SCT tuner or PCM by plugging that in and then the whole shebang going poof.

THE FOOKING ROOF RACK LEAKED INTO THE LINER AND IT TRICKLED ALL THE WAY FROM THERE TO THE DASH!

they couldn't get water to get in from the windshield so on a whim the shop boss sprayed the top and they got a waterfall. Same GEM and fuse box from another 97 EB expy they the guy drove 2 TWICE(30 min each time) because they gave him the wrong part and a failed attempt at a new gauge cluster thinking that might be the problem("try to fix the cheepest cause first" he said). <$750.

It just so happened that I replaced the windshield in winterish time so no rain, and the summer before I parked inside. Only time it saw rain really was en route and never for more than 12 hours outside probably.

Ah, Ol' Blue did that too; turned out after taking it into the dealership for warranty covered hail damage the fucktards forgot to replace a couple of the roof rack screws. Radio wouldn't work half the time, amongst other things...

fucking roof racks

Another Question

What renters insurance do y'all suggest?

The one that an insurance broker you trust suggests. NEVER work with an agent for a single company, in particular at your age. It is the equivalent of throwing money down the drain.

ya i was looking into Assurant, because it was supposedly a good deal, im covering 20k of personal property and it works out to be $426 a year.

I dunno im still looking. My parents are still picking up the car insurance trying to make them keep that as long as possible even though my car only has liability on it.

My parents have state farm FWIW.

Your parents are getting raped....they should change to a broker. Really. WAY better coverage and less money.

$426 is absurd for renters, it should nearly be free with car insurance. Your car and renters shouldn't be 2x that a year.

those look awesome Peng

oh they are; they're also fried in Crisco so they are absolutely terrible for you :lol2:

I've been working with this recipe of and on for a while, think I finally nailed it down...yay

From the color I can tell they were in hot enough oil which means not so bad for you. (or you cooked them WAY too long in lower, but I doubt that)

Quick question for you pros here in the hop.

Im working on getting a self propelled lawnmower running again. The lawnmower is in great condition.

I have changed the oil and cleaned up the spark plug.

I prime the little bubble about 4-5 times, pull the string, it starts for about 5 seconds then dies.

So it is only running on what i prime into the engine. So my plan tomorrow is to take the carb off and clean it up.

Any other things i should look for?

Depends on a few things really. Does the priming bubble seem slow to recover? That is, does it stay collapsed? On the carburetor, does it have 2 fuel lines coming into it? What brand? On the carburetor, does it have a bowl or are the lines a direct feed into the side of a small square shaped carb?

A few things come to mind. If it does not have a bowl, I see a lot of the pump diaphragms go bad, and a carburetor rebuild is on the menu. These carbs are really simple, just a few parts really. Just get a sharp razor blade, a can of carb cleaner, and the carb kit from your local NAPA. Keep the gaskets you take off the carb in order, as you will see several gaskets in the kit that you won't use, and each has some very slight differences. Really the only thing that I see go bad on these (unless you leave it sit and the gas goes sweet) is that diaphragm, and replacing it should be all you have to do. The diaphragm will be under a plate that has a round bulge on it. But I like to clean all the passages with the carb cleaner real good.

Second, if it has 2 fuel lines I see those stupid lines break inside the tank all the time. While the single line that feeds the bulb may be good and it will prime, the one that feeds the pump diaghram will be busted and you will see a lot of air bubbles in it, or it will be void of fuel altogether.

Third, if the bulb has a hard time recovering you either have a collapsed of clogged fuel line, or a clogged carburetor port that is creating a vacuum on the line prohibiting fuel feed.

Another Question

What renters insurance do y'all suggest?

I use Nationwide for all my homeowners, automotive, and landlord insurance. Generally you get discounts if you choose to carry multiple policies with the same company. It is worth asking your agent about.

The lawnmower is a: Scotts 6.5HP(briggs and Straton) I/C Intek Edge OHV Mod:22966X8A

first thing that happened the prime bubble started running fuel out the little relief hole when i first filled it up. So i raised the front of the lawnmower up for awhile. Then i came back to mess with it and the bulb no longer leaked. So i proceeded to start the mower. Thus it rain for about ~3 seconds on primed fuel.

I was going to tear into it tonight but i work a lil over 12 hours today and it was dark outside already and i ran to wally world to get some carb cleaner and other essentials.

The carb does have a bowl underneath it. i believe it only has one fuel line. The plan is to tear into it tomorrow and see whats going on.

9 times out of 10 it just the shit that settles in the bowl starts to clog the pick-up. Second would be that old gas turned to varnish and is gumming everything up. Always start with the simple stuff first.:)

I have all my vehicles and homeowners insurance through Farmers. The more things I insure, the better the deal. :)

I switched from Farmers to Travelers (via a broker) when I was about your age and my yearly insurance bill was nearly cut in 1/3. Seriously. Find a broker you trust and ask them to review your shit EVERY year.

so we went to Wally World for a few things (I know, I know) and out of morbid curiosity I strolled through the meat and seafood section when I saw something. This has to be an isolated incident, I thought to myself. But then I saw it again...and again...and again. Turns out every steak, every chop, every roast, every piece of unprocessed, non-frozen beef, poultry, and pork in that store was marinated or brined in solution. Concentrations ranged from 5% all the way up to 20%. Disgusting.

Weird. Sams used to have the best meat. I really miss sams now that I switched to costco for some things. Costco is SO inconsistant on some items and the meat selection(read beef) is less that what I think is good.

Interesting. I have had exactly the opposite experience with Costco being a damn good place for meat.

I thought that seemed high, but it has been years since I had renter's insurance. But it seemed like I was paying about $10 a month at the most.
