So my dad got his computer and now I'm kind of motivated to get mine a bit more RAM and maybe a sound card. Thinking about picking up 1 Gb stick (188 pin DDR PC3200).

Can I mix my 1gb with my 512mb since I have 2 slots?

yes you can but if you want to really be blown away i got 2 2gig sticks in mine they make a huge difference

Can? Yes. Should? Probably not. Ram should normally be matched, sort of a weakest link in the chain and unless you have a newer pc having a weak link in your ram won't be so good.
