Hooray Friday.

Had a dream about surviving a nuclear blast last night, then going to find the terrorists who were planning on detonating more.

Apparently we could wear costumes to work today as long as they aren't too risque. But I don't have a costume.

I just ate a bowl of corn pops cereal, and it got me thinking about those commercials with "gotta have my pops." They haven't played those in a while.

Well fact #1 is that most people are STUPID

And not realists. They all have big ideas on how to make things better, but 95% of the time it just screws it up worse.

Plus too many want to hold people's hand, forgive them of their wrongs, and help them out. Dammit they made those bad decisions. Let them reap the consequences.

You just described pretty much every liberal I know

Yeah. and that's the problem.

Personally I know so many libs. So many are good people. If they looked at the ethical problem behind the questiosn none would vote liberal, but because there is so much posturing above that no one ever gets down to what their vote actually is actually about.

That and the republican party is a joke. I atribute more people voting dem than rep to people like Glen Beck than any Obamamania propaganda. Those idiots in the repub media are killing the party. That and holding onto worthless right wing evangelical psychobable. Money isn't there anymore, and most of the US is not in line with that train of thought anymore. Not even the "heartland" or the south.

I was reorganizing the freezer last night and left a pizza on top overnight after I forgot about it. :( I hate throwing away food.

I had to trash 6 racks of baby backs the other day.... I was mortified.

I hate shipping companies...

Grills were supposed to be delivered yesterday but I didn't even get a phone call from the delivery guy. Turns out they're in the warehouse so I have to pick them up.

Caps for the z1 arrived 10 days ago at my old address and some dipshit signed for the package. I hope he didn't throw them away or else it will turn ugly.

It's clear to me, DHL are a bunch of retards. After running around town like an idiot for over 3 hours the delivery guy remembers the address was re-written on the package and it was sent to a law-firm. And the bitch at the law firm signed for the package although nobody ever heard of my name.

Ordered a new case assembly for my phone today, everything but the actual phone part, and an Otterbox case for it. I don't know how I do it but I am hard as hell on phones, hopefully it'll last a bit longer with a real case on it.

I have heard nothing but good about the otter box. My wife almost got it, but it makes the phone SO thick.

Those products do help though. I dropped my Wing down out metal spiral staircase onto tiled concrete, and it didn't even get a scratch, and mine was some 1 dollar plastic slip on china ebay cover.

Loving my 880 more and more ever day. I need to get a remote though as I HATE the dials. I prefer buttons.

I hate that mine is boxed up. :(

Don't feel bad, my shit is so ghetto. I have the 880 running into some POS soundstream amp I won on SIN a long time ago. It's a 2 channel amp running full range to a set of MLIs in the doors and some BG Neo 3s just setting in the kicks held in by magnetic force and crossed with a cap at 2K. The amp is mounted on the sub box (CV IT10s sealed in 1.2 cubes) which isn't even being used and is smashing around into all my tools in the trunk. I keep saying I'm going to get a new DD, so it's all just temporary, but I still haven't seemed to get rid of it.

Priceless. Maybe we can get an Xcon in your next DD. ;)

I'm sticking with the CVs. They work in tiny enclosures, are super efficient, and sound great. If I end up keeping the GT, I'm going to glass some enclosures on either side of the trunk for the XL-10s I still have to use.

I did not know you like Vega's that much. :)

The XLs are one of my top 5 favorite subs.

Why was I thinking they needed larger enclosures, much like the Vega Vega's?

The XLs DO need large enclosures. On the order of 1.5-2 cubes vented for the 10s. The IT series I have in the V6 were the replacements for their Accurate Image series drivers from the mid-to-late 90s. They were geared towards efficiency and small sealed enclosures.

and the rain starts here

hasn't really stopped here in the past 3 weeks. If it is going to do this just fucking snow

No shit. It's killing my poor expy. THis morning my drivers side window wouldn't roll when I started on my way into work. Then half my dash lights went off blinking randomly, and then the overdrive light was blinking. However the blinking dash lights somehow fixed my window.

WTF

And for fooks sake I wasnt to rake and clean out my gutters. FOOK

you are right though. I should get rid of it.

I'm just stubborn and I love it. And it runs. It has thise odd wet weather issues but it just keeps running.

It's also the first vehicle I have ever valued enough to do all my own work on it. So I'm quite sure that if I just took it to a shop instead I would have everything fixed in 1/100th the time.

Get it working most of the way and sell it as fast as you can, then run the other damn way with the money. You can't turn a lemon into gold...

It runs fine 100% of the time untill it rains for 4-5 days in a row.

I'll just replace every part untill it's basically a new vehicle. I knew when I got it it would have issues being so old.

Irvine, Calif., Oct. 28, 2009 – Bad drivers may in part have their genes to blame, suggests a new study by UC Irvine neuroscientists.

People with a particular gene variant performed more than 20 percent worse on a driving test than people without it – and a follow-up test a few days later yielded similar results. About 30 percent of Americans have the variant.

"These people make more errors from the get-go, and they forget more of what they learned after time away," said Dr. Steven Cramer, neurology associate professor and senior author of the study published recently in the journal Cerebral Cortex.

This gene variant limits the availability of a protein called brain-derived neurotrophic factor during activity. BDNF keeps memory strong by supporting communication among brain cells and keeping them functioning optimally. When a person is engaged in a particular task, BDNF is secreted in the brain area connected with that activity to help the body respond.

Previous studies have shown that in people with the variant, a smaller portion of the brain is stimulated when doing a task than in those with a normal BDNF gene. People with the variant also don't recover as well after a stroke. Given these differences, the UCI scientists wondered: Could the variant affect an activity such as driving?

"We wanted to study motor behavior, something more complex than finger-tapping," said Stephanie McHughen, graduate student and lead author of the study. "Driving seemed like a good choice because it has a learning curve and it's something most people know how to do."

The driving test was taken by 29 people – 22 without the gene variant and seven with it. They were asked to drive 15 laps on a simulator that required them to learn the nuances of a track programmed to have difficult curves and turns. Researchers recorded how well they stayed on the course over time. Four days later, the test was repeated.

Results showed that people with the variant did worse on both tests than the other participants, and they remembered less the second time. "Behavior derives from dozens and dozens of neurophysiologic events, so it's somewhat surprising this exercise bore fruit," Cramer said.

The gene variant isn't always bad, though. Studies have found that people with it maintain their usual mental sharpness longer than those without it when neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's, Huntington's and multiple sclerosis are present.

"It's as if nature is trying to determine the best approach," Cramer said. "If you want to learn a new skill or have had a stroke and need to regenerate brain cells, there's evidence that having the variant is not good. But if you've got a disease that affects cognitive function, there's evidence it can act in your favor. The variant brings a different balance between flexibility and stability."

A test to determine whether someone has the gene variant is not commercially available.

"I'd be curious to know the genetics of people who get into car crashes," Cramer said. "I wonder if the accident rate is higher for drivers with the variant."

Only 30 percent? Sounds like an incredibly conservative number to me...
