Anyone ever watch the show Renovation Realities on DIY? I can't believe how stupid people can be. "Oh yeah, I can build that. What's a screwdriver?"

sounds like a good show.

I've had grad students say they could mix 5ft^3 of concrete better by hand with a hoe then the mixer could....

Another thing I realized just in the past few months...you know that line in Office Space: "I'd relax, I would sit on my ass all day, I would do nothing." That used to be one of my career goals, until I realized I can't stand just doing nothing...now I have to find a NEW career goal...damned school used to keep me from thinking too much...now nothing is there to stop the flow of thoughts...argh...

AH, don't remind me. I have to set a pole and base for a handicap sign tomorrow. It better be warmer out.

I have a general preference for power tools myself; work smarter not harder :P

Ever seen someone try to take off the intake manifold of a Ford 3L Vulcan with an 18" breaker bar? Yeah, that's my dad; took him years to finally invest in a compressor and air tools...

At least for that there is nothing special, this was for a damn test mix for research.

I can do it in 15 minutes with nothing more than a 3/8" drive and 8,10,13, and 15mm sockets.

Somedays it isn't worth it. The travel at the moment is a bitch. If there is something that will "encourage" me to change that is exactly what it will be.

I'm at a point in my life where yes i would miss my wife, but I would RELISH the travel. I love planes, I love airports, I love the motion and the constant sense of being aware and how connected I feel with the whole population when ever I travel. Maybe not forever, but when I was cut, that particular mold was also put out and it's a great match. My wife may think differently though.

I bet mini me at home makes it tough too!

At the moment I would absolutely love travel too

Would he argue that taking it isn't gay?

kader sorry to hear about Exxon.

Up until a few years ago I had got every single job I truely applied for other than one that I was not qualified for in truth.

Chase something that is important to you and again, set goals. Things will work out then.

<-- has never applied for a job I haven't gotten.

Which is exactly why I should go apply for something new, only to shoot the moon. Someone encourage me.

Double dog dare you.

Find one for me to apply to :P

General Dynamics, Dell and Lockheed are looking for senior positions to fill down here in TX :lol2:

They are all too big to hand me the whole reigns. My next step I want to make all the decisions I want as I am sick of idiots slowing me down. I might eat my own words but I am okay with that.

If you are like me, or rather myself like you, I bet you get revved up at the thought of slicing through stagnant issues and shitty ethics and pulling forward a dieing buisness model.

I stay awake thinking about that, especially if I have had some cocktails....

I am on a 6pack of beer and half a bottle of wine right now, and if it weren't for SSA I'd be scheming for work as the W is already asleep

some moronic mechanic must have worked on ours then; took a helluva lot of persuasion to get those bolts to loosen, had the car rocking back and forth for god's sake...considering this town I'm not surprised though...

power tools how I love thee

That's something else I wish I could fit into my resume. "Actually knows how to use a welding machine."

Personally I don't want any company that is big. I want to have my own means and have something small enough I can do the work myself (or have a good hand in), stay honest, make a quality product and be happy with what I put out.

I tend to agree, the companies in dollars I cited aren't very large. $100M should be less than 250 people with a breakdown of 50 engineers/software, 50 office staff/production, and the rest in sales.

Yep; parents had an Aerostar with the Vulcan, both my sister's Taurus and my Ranger had them as well. Saying they can go through hellfire and brimstone is a understatement.

I'm debating on becoming a certified welder, haven't decided if I want to pursue that yet though.

lol. the barrier thread amused me. he turns the corner into agreeing with the opposite of what he said earlier really easy, but I know later he'll say what he said before.

We rock out with the Astro vans, that 4.3 takes a beating and asks for more.

The ford 300ci I-6 is pretty damn indestructible too.
