I heard the 944's are the most expensive of all older Porsche's to repair and maintain.

Huh? Cheapest outside of the 914 by FAR.

Not sure where you could have heard that. The 911's are a wreck, just try and work on one once and you will know what I mean. Then of course there is the 928 which is literally two 944 engines bolted together pretty much and it didn't work so well.

The only expensive thing on a 944 is the timing belt, well and the $600 tool used to tension it that you need to use when you put it on and 1000miles later to retension. That is fucking stupid. The turbo is a little worse, but only because of the turbo.

Was going off what one of my euro mechanics told me. He does occasional oil changes on the sled for me. Years ago, I could have snagged one, was the pre-944 model with the big 3 litre 4-cylinder.

Got my first layer of mud on the bathroom tonight. Sanding tomorrow and moving up to the 8" knife. Good thing is I used a setting compound so I didn't have to apply thinset to the cement board.

A wet sponge is easier than sanding IMO. By wet I mean barely damp.

Done that before and will never do it again. The sponge contours you your hand an wall. I prefer to sand to get uniform pressure throughout the joint and relieve the high/low spots at the same time.

My basement looked great after primer. Once I applied the paint, every joint stuck out like a sore thumb. Thankfully 90% of them are covered and it's not a public room, so I left it alone.

You are putting on too much mud if you get it to contour to your hand. Dilute your mud with more water before it goes on and treat it more like bondo. I would completely avoid sanding if at all possible. Also get a tile sponge, much easier to not push wrong on and don't use force just lightly go over it. It will work. If you have ridges and have put it on thick then you will need to sand and are doing a lot of extra work.

I can't thin the mud or it won't set properly. Now, if it was premixed, no problem. I don't see how I can be getting it on too thick either. I scrape it 3 times before settling, then move up to the next knife ending with a 12". Any tips for getting it thinner on application?

Plasma >>> LCD IMO

ORLY?

I suppose if cost was no factor. WHen I went shopping I couldn't find anything plasma @ 52" or bigger that was under 2k that I liked.

I got 2 sharp aques lcds instead.

Blacks, action, sharpness. The only bummer with Plasma's IMO are rooms with too many windows. Actually another bummer, only Panny & Pio make good ones and Pio is leaving the market.

That's why I picked the plasma. I have a window that shines right on the TV and the LCD I had before was hard to see. My Samsung plasma is not affected by the light.

The asian diet is interesting though.

Less animal protein period, no milk, lots of vegetables, fish and they live a long time.

But animals taste better than vegetables most of the time. And the asians are mostly little. Though less overweight, no? Though maybe half of this country's problem with obesity is lack of self control and discipline with any food, period. But mostly twinkies I think.

Ah no wonder. I needed mine to be good in rooms with uncontrolled light.

That was a major factor in my purchase.

when it comes to healthy eating and diet theory crafting I only see some facts to be true.

we should be eating only foods we could kill/harvest easily ant eat raw.

raw grains = bad for you. The bad for u parts are nutralized in cooking for the mots part but some stay with.

our boday can create cellular energy from fat and amino acids. There are esential fats and amino acids we need. There is no sugar that if we don't eat we will die. High starch foods are in general bad.

Our imune system and metabolism thrive on high protein higher vitamin and mineral dense foods.

High energy, non fructose rich food sources rarely have a decent amount of proteins vitamins health" fats or minerals.

Milk isn't that good for you. Period. Lactose isn't readily digestable. I wouldn't villanise milk though. It's not horrible unless u have a severe lactose alergy.

In the US we have less lactose intolerance for one main reason. Milk was a main energy source on the trip over to the new land and once we arived.

The most confusing thing to me is why we are so reliant on certain fats.

What in evolution made us function so much better on olive oil and salmon fat. They don't seam like a highly available nutrient globally. The omega fats however are amazing for almost all needs and most US people don't get enough.

Also, in ever person I have met and helped in changing body comp, the first this I told them was eat more lean protein. So many people I know that just increased frequency and quantity of protein have seen more results from that than any single other change including increasing exercize.

A lot of the Panasonic's now come with anti glare coating, but yeah for the most part LCDs are better for rooms with uncontrollable light...

funny too because I still have only CRT televisions and I've learned through the years how to properly orient them (and the lighting) in a room to minimize screen reflection and glare...I'll probably get around to buying a Panasonic plasma one of these years...probably...maybe...depends on how LED and OLED displays pan out...

Audi has kicked off its latest efficiency marathon in northern Norway this week with a fleet of A3, A4, A5, Q7 and TT models to demonstrate what they can do in the real world. Leading the pack in terms of minimal fuel consumption is the new A3 1.6 TDI. On the road in Norway in the opening stage, the drivers managed to squeeze out an astounding 78.4 mpg average from the 1.6-liter diesel engine. Next up was the A4 2.0 TDI e sedan, which went an average of 60.3 miles on every gallon (U.S.) of diesel.

In addition to the high efficiency models, Audi also opted to include several high performance models this time around to show that even they can get very good fuel efficiency when driven sedately. The 340-horsepower TT-RS averaged 32.22 mpg, while the utterly absurd Q7 V12 TDI with its 500 horsepower diesel V12 managed a startling 27.03 mpg. That's nearly as good as what we achieved with the V6-powered Q7 TDI on last year's U.S. Mileage Marathon, so it's not too shabby for a big SUV that would probably pull a house off of its foundation

I've only used pre-mix and always add water. I think you are putting too much on to begin with. Even a 6" knife is not an issue to get it on thin. Basically use it like wood filler, fill the hole and that is it. Feathering happens much easier with coats than at once.

I really hate the fact that people call Nightshades NS 15's. Everytime I see a thread with NS in it I get excited and then realize it is a Sundown reference. No beef against the Sundown but it isn't what I expect when I see NS.
