Welcome to the IHoP

Just put a new gasket on the Viking. Can't wait to see how that and a temperature controller will do to make it super consistent. Have to wait until next weekend. First cook = Whole rack of lamb.

What time, I'll grab bring some home made honey wine.

We have our wine-o group party on Saturday. I "get" to make the food. :)

You'll have to come over some other time for eats.

How nice of them to let you! My best was about ~75 people and we had some friends fire dancing. That was a kick ass Bday party. About 350 in meat/seafood alone. Booze was another 200 or more, and that was only because I got a sick discount.

I host EVERYTHING. In my group I refuse to go to their house. When my friends host a get together they have to wait untill their parents are on a vacation, and plastic bottle whiskey and Doctor pepper is the drink of choice.

My worst was the first wine pairing party I threw at my house. I had every couple bring 2 bottles of wine that I helped select and some cheese. 12 people, 40 bottles of wine/champagne, and $600 worth of food, ended up at over $150 a person.

This is slightly different.

8 couples. Each brings 3 bottles of the same wine (grape / type chosen by host). One bottle goes into a box, the other two into paperbags that are number the same. Everyone gets a red chip and a green chip. You put the green chip by the bottle you think is the best and the red by the one you think is the worst. The person with the most reds hosts the next party and the person with the most greens keeps the extra bottles :)

We lost last time, but amusingly our losing wine had 2 votes. My w and I both voted positive for ours. We like big, full reds though and the rest of the group doesn't. I should have picked to win, but instead picked what I liked. Oh well. I don't mind hosting.

This girl I'm talking to likes to work out and said she'll give me anything if I can make her have defined abs in two months. I asked for a Lamborghini, she said be reasonable, something she could actually manage. smile.gif

Oh and she passes the HOP girl tests. She actually likes to shoot her dad's .45, and while she's mostly vegetarian (only eats meat once in a while), she likes seafood.

A blow job every 4 hours for the next 10 years. She could manage that smile.gif

Good idea, I'll mention that to her when I see her next. I'm not sure I'd trust a vegetarian cooking my steak though smile.gif

If your a real steak man you eat it practically rare anyways.

Medium rare usually :)

Why is MR in restaurants usually well done.

Med Rare = WARM red center. Not pink, not brown, but RED. Also not HOT, but warm.

If I order a steak MR I usually ask their definition ahead of time and bat around 95% of returning the meat. Usually I order it Extra Rare just hoping that they will actually bring me something between Rare & Med Rare. Of course, I'd much rather eat it raw than medium well.

I HATE ORDERING STEAK WHEN I GO OUT!!!!!

The only place I have ever been happy was a place in chicago. I beleieve it was the "X" steak house. I took a road trip to Chicago at 3:30 am after telling my boss where to put it. I drove back there a few years later, and ordered blue and I got blue. I should not have ordered such a large cut blue, it was a massive NY strip, but it was amazing. Most places don't even know the term blue, much less make it for you.

I tell people here in MN to show the steak a picture of a flame and then bring it out to me. I'll let them know if it's "too rare".

Score card?

Steaks sent back because they were too rare - 0

Steaks sent back over done even after asking for super mega rare - 74897409827809273098742808-548703798723987450923...bajillion

Ordered a rare strip today. Asked the waitress what that meant she said RED and COOL. It came hot and brown while my colleagues med rare came cool. Major fail. Nicest restaurant in town too....although I am in Sidney Ohio so that ain't sayin much. Mine went back :(

It's replacement came cold and unsalted. I added salt and a bunch of blue cheese and ate it anyway.

there is a microbrew of the month club that is pretty badass if you're just getting in to "good" beer, it's actually what turned me on to good beer.

If the refs don't count that as a touchdown they suck.

Amusingly I picked up Louis Murphy earlier this week. Was able to put my rookie pick back on the I/R and had an open spot. I love big rosters :)

**obviously I didn't start Murphy, just filling a very deep bench spot for me hoping that he's the rookie that steps up**

Got a call from a friend of mine today. He needed a ride over to his 94 Cadillac STS that wouldn't start after leaving Target. He tried starting it again and it wouldn't even try to turn over the engine. Just a click. We checked the multiple fuse locations to see if something popped. Couldn't find anything so we decided we would tow it back to his house. We pushed it to an open area in the parking lot approximately 25 yards away. Just for giggles he turned the key again and it started right up. Can you say WTF?

Oh and it has a 11.5 amp fuse.

Maybe a dead spot in the starter?

I had a cutlass that would just crank and crank one night and never turn over. I had to get a ride home 30 minutes away. I come back the next morning expecting to have to tow it, and it started up immediately. I was confused. But I believe that one was the timing belt.

A dead spot could very well be the issue. It started 3 consecutive times after that and then it sat for an hour and started right up again.

I suppose we just chalk one up to the Caddy being cranky.
