called merchant tire to see if they could mount/balance my tires. I have no real experience in this area as all my old tires didn't really matter and wal-mart worked just fine. Merchant claims they can do it but the guy on the phone did not sound happy to hear the sizes. Any advice from people who have had larger low profile tires mounted?

Most of the national chains should have the proper equipment to do it and do it right. Whatever you do, check them before they put them back on the vehicle. They have a bad of habit of just throwing the tire on there and then weighting it where needed instead of trying to remount the tire in a better position. Ideally, you want the least amount of weights needed and spaced out instead of in one area. Large wheels and tires are usually not an issue, diameter-wise; it's usually the extreme widths that cause them fits.

My old man's '90 GT has 10.5" tires on the rear and I went to 3 different places and broke 3 machines until I gave in and had to take it to Tire Rack.

I actually love that movie just because of the approach taken. I love how dark it is without being....depressing?

That's a good way to describe it. I didn't know it was an M. Night Shyamalan movie until the ending credits, and then I was like ohhhhh makes sense.

Thursday, May 28: Loaded up and drove to the hotel in Dallas. Thirty minutes after we leave I get a phone call. Its the marketing company I applied to, they want to set up an interview. Sweet, set up the interview for one on Monday. Wait, did I leave my suit at my college apartment? I think I did. Oh fuck, detour...oh fuck it we'll get on the way back home Sunday. Arrived a little after 4, sister arrived in her car about a half hour later. Unloaded everything into the hotel room, didn't feel like driving anymore than we had to so we just ate at the Kerm's Restaurant downstairs and went to grab the registration packet at the convention center, and retired for the night after watching Liam Neeson kick all manner of Albanian ass.

Friday, May 29: Had a great breakfast at the Original Market Diner. A-Kon for a few hours, went sight seeing, shopping, what have you. Turns out Macy's is having a sell on men's suits, so we decided might as well see what they have. Snagged a pretty good deal on a nice black wool suit, had the tailor there hem the pants for us. Had another great meal at the Mi Cocina inside the mall for lunch. More shopping. Ate at some steakhouse I can't remember the name of and settled down in the hotel room for the night.

Saturday, May 30: Breakfast at Kerm's, lazed around the hotel room until lunch. Went downstairs to find lunch. Suburban wouldn't start. Fuck. Check the relays...relays work. Check the battery cables for corrosion...no corrosion, tightened them some more. No dice. Crawl under it and check the starter. A small number of teeth on the starter gear have worn down and don't engage the flywheel. Grab a Crescent wrench for some impromptu STOP! HAMMERTIME! action, teeth engage and it fires right up. With all the time consumed fixing the Suburban we decide on just going to the Original Market Diner again. More A-Kon. Picked the suit up from Macy's, had my first Jamba Juice. It was really good, certainly not ZOMFGBESTEVER, but refreshing and delicious nontheless. Raised some hell at the Fort Worth Stockyards; whiskey highballs, pool, amongst other things...

Sunday, May 31: Another breakfast at Kerm's. Loaded up the cars and caravaned it down I-35W, sister and dad in the Corolla, me and mom leading in the Suburban. All of a sudden cell phone starts ringing. It's dad franticing telling us to pull of the highway and into a parking lot. Something is dangling off the axle or the rear part of the frame or something. Closer inspection reveals the bottom bolt and nut on the passenger side rear shock are gone. Just...gone...and the shock is just sitting there dangling...the fuck...mounting tabs on both axle and frame are fine, bolt and nut on the top part of the shock are still in place and plenty tight. Oh well, just let it dangle till we get back home. Ate lunch at the Cracker Barrel in DeSoto, sister went back home, as did we. Managed to make it back before sunset. And after all of this driving, another 7-8 hours of driving lay ahead of us tomorrow when I drive (ride I guess would be the correct term) to Austin for that job interview.

Pics O'Plenty Here

So...what the fuck have y'all done lately? :D

What size is it? The only problem with low pro tires is that people are afraid of scratching the rims when they get mounted. If that guy was inexperienced or had inexperienced help he may be worrying that he'd have to pay for new rims if one got scratched. Or else he was just lazy and didn't want to go through the trouble since they require a few more seconds of extra care and patience.

Friday/Saturday morning we finished moving and cleaning the old house. Then I went down to Wichita to see the woman, went to a wedding reception, drank the free beer, went back to the hotel room and fucked the shit out of her, went to bed, slept for 12hrs, woke up and did it all over again (no, no pics...). Then we went and found food, bummed around Wichita for awhile then I came back home to clean up the room some.

Tomorrow I have work, get to finish playing electrician.

That's true too, didn't think about the balancing aspect. Especially if you only put weights on the inside.

You broke three machines? How did they break?

Saw the sexiest vehicle I have ever seen in my life today.

1940 Cadillac Le Salle 2 door hard top, it was for sale in Wichita for 30k, it was sitting on a '70 Chevelle Chassis with a '70 Cadillac drive train (believe the 427 under the hood). It was maroon and silver, just a flat out beautiful car.

A life goal now is to own one of those, it is flat out a gorgeous piece of artwork that screams sex on wheels. I did not get a photo though, not sure why...

More immediate goals are to get the landlord to clean out the garage, get a duplicator machine in there, and start making some pistol grips, starting with 1911 grips.

I have those, they are a bitch. I started getting them right after my heart surgery, I had them basically hours apart for days. Until finally they started getting spaced apart. Now I only get like two a year, I see the blurry shit and then one half of my body goes numb.

FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT.

Missed a set of barely used Maxxis Bighorns. And they were local and very cheap.

FUCKING PISSED.

dang. I want some for the brute. What you getting them for?

For the Jeep. If you can imagine I'm still looking for tyres since fall 2008.
