OMFG, how can somebody be that stupid? The people on that forum are apparently very mean, or else that kid did something really, really bad to them.

He did something extremely stupid. He welded the pinion to the ring instead of the spider gears together. Plenty of pictures of welded gears and he couldn't do it right.

Last I checked the bugatti veryon can do 253 mph, in absolute ideal conditions and sustain it for a whopping 8 minutes if i remember correctly. It's like 8 minutes of just straight missionary with a fine chick vs. the endurance and finesse of hours of making love in every position known to man.

Bwhahahahaha.

That is one of the greatest analogies ever posted in here I do believe.

Sean, funny you mention not shopping at tigerdirect because after that purchase i caught an unauthorized charge on my card and had to stop payment. not sure if it was tiger or my copious amazon shopping but somewhere my info got leaked, and i've never had an amazon problem before...

Dare you to try and collect a rebate from them.

I just like the Bugatti..... sorry to offend you.

:(

ROFL.

There is more engineering in one valve spring in an F1 car than in the whole Veyron

iirc you've done some work for around the fia, got any good stories/pictures for us? :)

No pics :(

cali, you see the Monaco race last year with them sliding all over in the rain?

"oops, I just tapped another car with my front wing... there goes 2 million dollars"

yep i did, last year was one of the best seasons i can remember watching; from start to finish. i've only been following the sport for 5 or 6 years but that singapore race at night was stunning and the championship coming down to the final corner on the final lap of the final race in brazil was almost too much. i was jumping up and down hugging my roomate because we thought felipe was going to take it all and then hamilton crushed my heart :(

i'm really excited about the fact that we finally got speedHD in santa barbara county for this season!

I was in Singapore the week before, really fucked up my timing on that.

I fuggin miss the HOP. Stupid work.

SAHWEEEEEET!!!

I was just shopping for a good deal on a QSC PLX3602 and Swooped on a miss-priced plx3102 for half the price of the 3602. I will pick it up from a store tonight.

Overal there will be a 25% loss of power, but I'm not too mad. I think it will power my 2 brand new sexy Mael-x's juuuuust fine.

My home theater is almost finished! After the flood in the basment the drama of the dousche bag room renter moving out and STILL remodeling the kitchen... It's good to see at least one project getting close to some form of a milestone. Of course then comes a permamnent PJ mount and to calibrate everything....

This summer will be crazy. Grading the yad. Fixing both of our concrete ponds, and tossing in 3-4 gardens and some shrubs. I won't have enough cash for a vacation after the wedding at this rate! Have to refinish my whole cabinet set up in the kitchen too. I've never had experience with wood working handy man type things, but I'll have to learn PDQ. That's how my life has been. I hope your lifes are going great too!

I hope all of you crazy folks are great. Sean you work too hard, but thats a good thing.. Mkader, you are finaly putting a lift on your truck? Much better. Finaly some proper upgrades!

=P

Hope to drop in some time soon. Ciao.

Sounds like things are coming together. Nice work :)

Have to show me the results.

Its not like there might be a problem with valve float at 20,000rpm...

they won't bounce with those G's either, plus no power is made in the heads.

dont they use air pressure instead of valve springs so there are no fatigue factors and inconsistencies

wow, really???

I meant in a straight line...... What is the fastest F1 speed in a straight line?

You really have to stop. The Veyron is a piece of shit compared to any F1 car. And with minor gear changes the F1 will smoke it in any race very easily.

ok, a ~9sec 1/4 is damn fast, far faster than any production car

there are street cars that are quicker, but they're set up specifically for drag racing

That is plain awesome to have a 9 sec 1/4 mile vehicle that can still turn. And not only can it takes corners, its probably is the best at doing it.

Here we'll make it really, really simple:

F1 is obviously more aerodynamic even with the treatments made to the car to increase downforce so it can turn faster, and WAY faster of course.

F1 car: 440kg + ballasts = 605kg = 1333lbs and this year they are now LIMITED to 850hp yielding a HP/weight ratio of 0.637

Veyron: 2034kg = 4485lb and 1001hp yielding a HP/weight ratio of 0.22

The F1 is 3 times better and then when you realize that nearly 1/3 of the weight of the car is ballast that is required to build up the weight of a car to a certain point which for comparison sake in your argument could easily be removed what do you think is engineered better.

To make the point even stronger and to get you to think before talking about shit you know nothing about, I will draw an analogy.

What you stated is like comparing an early 90's Geo Metro (1.3L 70hp 1367lb:: hp/w = 0.05) to a brand new C63 AMG (6.3L 450hp 3920lb :: hp/w = 0.11) and then claiming the Metro is faster. Oh, whoops that is only 2x the HP to weight of the Metro and the F1 car has nearly three.

Such an extreme level of aerodynamic development means that an F1 car produces much more downforce than any other open-wheel formula; for example the Indycars produce downforce equal to their weight at 190 km/h (118 mph), while an F1 car achieves the same downforce:weight ratio of 1:1 at 125 km/h (78 mph) to 130 km/h (81 mph), and at 190 km/h (118 mph) the ratio is roughly 2:1.[4]

so the F1 could essentially drive on an upside down road at 118+ mph?

On This Date...

In 1986, the United States Senate allowed its debates to be televised on a trial basis. In 1974, People magazine was published for the first time. In 1964, the government of Italy asked for help to keep the Leaning Tower of Pisa from toppling over. In 1963, Mickey Mantle of the New York Yankees signed a baseball contract worth $100,000. In 1951, the 22nd Amendment to the United States Constitution, limiting presidents to two terms, was ratified. And in 1940, Martin Kamen and Sam Ruben discovered carbon-14, creating the basis for the radiocarbon dating method. yes

years ago, I read an article about how crazy we could get with tracks if all the limits on the cars were removed, and upside down tracks were definitely a possibility
