What happened? After that last hurricane in Texas, I thought we didn't have the reserves for supply and demand at the time due to refineries being shut down, thus the rise in gasoline costs. Now after a short time after the fact, some areas are selling gas for sub $2.00 a gallon? I don't get it. Are they giving us a break due to the economy being at a weak point? What gives? I'm convinced that these prices wont last very long, so be prepared for it to shoot back up soon

Heck, last week when I went back to NC there were places at $3.38/gal...

I agree completely, it's artificially low, while I won't complain filling up the E-150 I don't think this is going to last long. Especially going into the winter.

That's about the average here for shell & mobile exxon type stations

This is the reasoning I've heard, as best as I can remember

The price of oil barrels is based on future predictions as to supply and demand. The gas at the pump was originally purchased in crude barrel form some time before (I don't know how long exactly, a few weeks?). Anyway, since our economy tanked, everyone else's did as well which caused India and Chine to cut back development a bunch. This removes a future demand of the oil so now it's worth less.

Oil futures are about a month in advance, so futures being traded now are for Dec. delivery, IIRC.

Got a buddy that is building a center console on his boat. What would be the best and cheapest wood for him to make something that will last and look descent. He is looking into either painting or staining the wood

I hate that. Why be at work when there is nothing productive to do? All we do is waste company time and our own time by doing this.

im sort of really tuning into my electronics class now that we are talking about applications of BJTs in amplifiers :woot:

What about the BLT drives? Are they next?

i believe MOSFETS are next im interested in those lil guys cuz i hear all this talk about MOSFET technology in amps and wanna know what they do

They're basicaly an on-off switch for electronics. You'll prolly learn about the NPN and PNP transistors as well as what the anode and cathode is of the transistor. Things of that nature anyway. I've always been interested in these topics. If you like it, the class will be fast yet fun

NPN nad PNP are BJTs. and i have learned the cathode and anode. and im not sure when we will get to BLT drives

The cool thing about my job is that you can practically be as busy as you want to be.

Sadly though, my boss just quit so he could move back closer to home in Louisiana. He was a fricken awesome boss and never was all up in your business and treated his employees very well. Hopefully the next guy isn't a prick
