My methods would be a bit expensive. If you are just looking for leaking (and EVERYTHING leaks), can you just apply pressurized air on one side in a known size of tank and then time how long it takes for a pressure drop? That will yield flow as well, albeit not nearly as accurate as building a flow meter like I described before.

It isn't really possible to single out the vlave and test it as it has to stay in place while all the processes continue to work around it.

Expensive is relative and this is for an expense for a Fortune 500 company

You need a doppler flow meter then, but they will be even more than the solution above.

We have a doppler flow meter, but doppler is only for liquid flow with airbubbles and dirt/debri in the water.

Probably just going to tap and go with something basic. We really need only a barbaric reading. If the meter measures flow then we have to change the valve.

This is my first little project at my new job.

Theres some good folk down there, good food too. :)

Some of the other aspects aren't as nice though. :)

only thing I'll give 'em is good food

everything else... yikes

I'd be interested in hearing an explanation. I've been to florida once (like 10 years ago to go to disneyland when my little brother and sister were like 7-8). We were just in Orlando, though, and it just seemed real tourist-y. and of course lots of old people in florida. and one of my friends is thinking he wants to move to south carolina. I've always though it would be decent to live in a place like that, next to the ocean, trees (hey I'm from kansas, haha), etc. My aunt lives in Louisiana and we've visited her a couple times. Doesn't seem too bad other than just kinda being....a little more poor I guess. So it "seems" ok to me. But I'd like to hear the negatives so that I have a more realistic view.

I know South East Texas is one of the cheapest places to live in America whihc mean more toyz for me :)

Actually it means lower pay and therefore the same toys

Is it just a valve you are testing? I guess I don't quite understand exactly what you need to do.

Most people in South East Texas live in the small towns and commute (sometimes an hour each way) to their job in Houston, so pay is beyond reasonable

And the cost of commuting an hour each way is? The government would say that it is $13,500 a year. 250 days, 100mi day, $.54 a mile. That is after tax as well, so you better make $20k more a year than you would living rurally. Rarely does distance really help you in the long run. Then when you add the fact you lose 10 hours a week commuting it is crazy dumb if you ask me.

And the cost of commuting an hour each way is?

Depends on the make and model of the vehicle, driving habits, weather conditions etc.

I do realize, but unless you are completely frugal it will be at least $10k and for most people more.

My sister got a nursing job for 58 a year right out of college (B.S.n with R.N. cert), pretty damn good for any part of the country if you ask me

I think she's more of the exception than of the rule

Even still if you took away the expense of communting that 58 is down to 43k if not lower once you figure in taxes. I'd rather spend the extra to live right near where I work.

Average Household Income ~30

Cost of Living is pretty damned low, even if you do commute

For the circuit theory final tomorrow, we get 4 pages worth of notes, one for each test that we took, plus one for the additional material. :)

So found out today my friends house that they are moving into in June is right across from the Tri-Delt sorority house... :) If I provide labor for getting the yard, deck, and trees trimmed and everything up to snuff, free booze for me. :D The project list already includes rerocking the driveway, rebuild deck, clear a few trees, and a few other things.
