Motorcycles are definitely FTL right now for me. A girl I graduated school with and went to school with since 2nd grade got in a motorcycle accident with her fiance 2 days ago. She is in critical condition. (surgery to put her ankle back together, and another surgery to put a bone in her that was left at the scene of the accident) but her husband-to-be didn't make it. :(

There are two types of motorcyclist...

Those who have been in a wreck and those who are going to be in a wreck

u are absolutely correct, i have a lot of friends who ride street bikes and they have all been in wrecks like getting run over by Cadillacs , hitting trees going like 60, and many more. they all said they would never get into a wreck, and what people say is bs if u are a good rider.... lol i guess not. thats why i will never own a bike. at least one with a motor

Thankfully I ride responsibly and haven't had to dump the bike or eat shit. I have zero interest in riding like an idiot. Just asking for trouble.

want a bike..........but I know my sense of balance isn't always best, and I know once I got comfortable with the bike I would want to push it and I don't want to risk hurting myself or possibly someone else.

I know, and I know it's more than likely going to be the idiot that doesn't see me than me doing something stupid...at least in the van I know I'm probably going to come out on top of that argument, on a bike I'm in the open...

I have no desire to get something fast, I don't really like the look of all-fairing bikes either. I love the look of old European-style ones, Triumphs and BSA's and the like :P

And heck, just about anything is going to give me more of a sense of speed than I'm getting now :D

I am selling mine. A really good friend of my Uncle was down in Florida a couple weeks ago with his wife riding her bike behind him when all of a sudden her bike past him laying down without her on it. Some dumb ass rearended her so hard their airbags went off. When he got up to her she was in a huge pile of blood and was sure she was dead. The helmet did its job though, she is having major reconstructive surgery on her face as her jaw is all screwed up but she lived. I can't imagine the horror of watching your wives bike pass you without her on the highway. Sort of the last straw for me, I am not ready to be handicapped yet.

another sad loss to motorcycle accidents.

about 3 or 4 years ago we lost a great friend of ours at me and mks church he was a great guy full of life, great christian guy.

he had gotten into a wreck on it once and got it fixed and then said he was goin to get rid of it. so he wants a couple more last rides on the thing and guess what a guy pulls out in front of him and he has to lay the bike over and smash his head against the concrete. GAME OVER!

he later died that week! i personally will never own a motorcycle for these reasons.

you can be the safest driver. but its the other driver on the road that you dont have any control of.

Right now I don't feel responsible enough to switch from the 49cc moped to a real motorbike.

Is it responsable or repsonsible?

What I am referring to is a hybrid of life insurance and investment. It is meant for Arthur's college fund. We started it before he was born, and if he gets a scholarship, I will buy him a house near campus which ever school he goes to.

Even the Fortune 500's aren't a sure bet, by any means...

Just stick it in an ING account for now. High yield savings seems the most logical way for now.

Everything is a bit scary right now, but when it is down it can really go up.

The companies that really seem like they're a good investment now are, maybe not surprisingly, not publicly traded anywhere :D
