Welcome to the IHoP

I got magic smoke to escape from the PG 500.2, but for some reason it didn't die...yet.

Went to check into the local SKYWARN net on 2 meters, I hear this crackling behind me...look at the amps and see there's a bit of smoke coming out of the 500.2. It wasn't turned on at the time. After initially thinking I've toasted it or it's still on fire, I turn the head unit on and both amps come on, I get sound...very strange.

It still smells a little smoky, but the heatsink feels cool. I think the smell is just residual from whatever smoke might still be in there...think what happened was I didn't have the shield of the coax cable on the radio I was using connected, the radio probably had a crazy-high VSWR but it rolled back power to protect itself, the amp went apeshit with the high RF content, it usually has the entire van to act as a Faraday cage for it.

So those of you that think SQ people can't get smoke to come out of amps, you're sadly mistaken...we just come up with unique ways to do it :D

 only you Jim...

Love it.

See ya all later.

All manual, no hydro, no vacuum. I am curious to see how that feels on the thighs.

Um, why no vacuum booster?

Just too big of a cam?

Budget, plus there seems to be a theory with the Wilwoods that it won't be necessary. My thighs will let you know in about three months. My guess is sometime next winter we will be adding a booster :D

Your guess doesn't sound real far fetched to me...

I drove the Galaxie with the ole Kelsey Hayes 4 piston front 2 rear without a booster for a while (well actually no vacuum) and it was a beyotch to stop, a real beyotch. Frank seems to think differently and Josh is far from a wuss, but we shall see.

Before I did the Camaro, stopping that was scary, but I think that had more to do with the 4 wheel drums than the lack of booster

The interior will be white. The front seats are being made now and the rears are having custom stitching done. His dumb ass would let me help so he is paying someone to do it. Personally I would have taken power seats out of something modern, but he is going to have stitched race buckets to match the interior. The white is going to look great in the car though with all the black.

Looking forward to seeing pics of this.

Probably be at least a month. Have to strip the subframe, paint it, reassemble it, pull the motor apart and check all the bearing tolerances (supposedly it was just rebuilt, but since it is out I wanna see the inside and check it all out), fit a new tranny (TKO), install the pedals, deaden the interior, undercoat the bottom, fit the rims and measure for tires, put in the new rear end (after having it made), fit a new steering box, ....

The list goes on, better make that two months. We should be driving it to the power tour though :)

he's going with a TKO 500 or 600?

Awesome. :) That's what I want in the Camaro.

I didn't get much done today, either. Time to eat and then do homework after that.

I built a rut rake today.

lol.

Had a old chissle plow, and put them close together, and when u put it in the dirt behind the tractor, it brings all the ruts to the surface and in a pulls them where you want them to go.

Makes clean up after clearing tree's easy.

Hopin getting ready to build a pond.

w00t.

It'll be right beside where I'm going to build my house, so I can walk right out the door and fish.

Sometimes it's down by the river...not at the moment though.
