Guy tries to tell me that downfire in a truck decreases output and sound quality then when I asked for frequency response graphs he tells me they don't matter and SQ is completely in the ear of the beholder.

I told him if it is truly in the ear of the beholder then he has no damn right to tell me and everyone else that downfire sounds worse

IME, downfire appears to be louder to th ear, but i never once measured it
