Welcome to the IHoP

Every so often, there is a need for lifting or fitness ideas or suggestions. Matt suggested it a while back, and with the new topic in OT, I thought about it again. Meaning a fitness sub-section for you to go hog wild in, post up info and ideas, work outs and diets etc.

We have a ton of forums here already

I am an advocate for health and wellness, but I'm not sure if a separate section it would attract enough attention. I would use it though ... and I would include pieces from my dissertation as well as actual lecture notes.

YOu know, I tend to agree with you on this point, but seeing you type about working out, actually motivates me, and that is my biggest problem.

I wake up ever day and I feel like shit. Then I see something you say about people being lazy and subdued when it comes to working out and it gets me off my ass. Then I go and do a little exercise and I feel great the rest of the day.

If you had a blog or something I could follow everyday, that would be the biggest help in the world to me, as just your words are enough to motivate me, and it's hard for me to find motivation these days.

I often sit and think back to my younger days when you could see every small hint of definition in every muscle of my body, and that gets me hyped up for a litttle bit to actually get back to that. And then I have to go and fix something, but when you start talking about it, I actually do it. I don't know why, but it's kinda like a big brother saying, "do it, or else." Perfect motivation for me.

I'm sure others could use your advice and inspiration to get off their lazy asses as well.

We'll call it, Dr. Captain Canada's motivational exercise (Fat, lazy Americans)!

X2, Just reading about it gives me new ideas and therefore motivation. Also the scientific part interest me as well as I know exactly what my body is going through.

On the same topic I keep a page I found out of a magazine on my wall. Its Lance Armstrong just off a bike and looking tired. The caption states, "Whatever your 100% looks like, give it."

If it is motivation you need, I can provide that. I would definitely be up for daily posts reflecting on my experience of training that day and to provide some sort of wisdom/guidance/motivation. I am sure I could find time to do an article once a week or so for sure.

There is more to being healthy that "working out" and lifting weights. You need a balanced wheel - emotional, physical, psychoogical, spiritual, etc. I can offer help to the guys on here who don't want to go to the gym - bodyweight exercises in the comfort of your own home and maybe some modifications to the current diet. If you are willing to go to the gym and don't have much time, I can have you in and out in 20 minutes and if you want I can have you toss your cookies at some point during that 20 minutes.

The components of fitness are strength, power, agility, muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, and balance. I listed seven ... not just "strength" ... Remember - you can't fire a cannon from a canoe.

I should stop before I go all night.
