I'd love to own an original Mini, but there aren't too many places around here I'd feel safe driving one...

What won't you own thats old and obscure? :)

The exterior look of these looks a whole lot better than the new ones, that's for sure.

Target max budget?

New old car still has factory deck... 1.5 din to work with, 6.75" door speaker opening factory in front doors.

Target max budget, who cares, lol. Spent 6 grand last spring on my spl stint.

2grand seems like the max i'd be willing to spend on a beater tho.

Any tweeter size limitations? I shouldn't have asked max, I really meant by what do you mean cheap max. You say $1k but it includes the amp and sub, I was referring to the "cheap" front stage portion. Also knowing the processing would help, I assume it is your 8455...

Planning on fiberglassing door pods since i have tons of glass and stuff laying around. large format tweets should fit possibly even a 7" midrange. its all just in the thinking process i really hate having no sound though. I was thinking like 400 for the front soundstage, don't have any processing capabilities right now. I'll go look at decks and compare my options unless someone has an h701 with supporting deck for around 400-500$. I was thinking for subs i would once again bug my buddy jacob and try out 2 sd 10"s either isobaric or a small ported box tuned to 32hz.

Processing choice first, drivers second. Don't you have an 8455?

8455 was sold with car. I have pm'd the current owner of the car about buying it back though as its an sq deck and not a spl deck.

Option #2 findind a cheap hatch and playing around with street A again. (compete against my old car, lol)

Kent bought a MiniCooper S!

Kent, please tell me he's wrong

can't. traded the silverado in on a dark grey convertible mini cooper s. 2006 model with 4600 miles on it. the wife has wanted one since they came out, and we got this one for 3k under book and got payoff for the truck as trade in, 17k. and my truck is beat to hell, lol. couldn't really pass it up, as the thing is pretty much fully loaded and is just plain fun to drive. and easily doubling the gas mileage of the silverado/trailblazer, we are going to be saving not only on teh car payment, as it went down as well, but damn near $150 or so a month in gas.

nice guess ryan2, the tire size finally gave it away, lol.

matt, the solstice/sky was on the wish list, but it's just a two seater. my next clue was that this car can seat 4, though i don't want to be in the back.

also, next year, or maybe even later this year, i get to trade teh trailblazer in on the truck of my choice. that's between an xcab z71 2500 with the duramax or an z71 avalanche at the moment, subject to change.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

The mini does not fit Kent's personality, but a fun scooter non-the less.

true dat!! that's why it's the wifes. it's her anniversay present. i can give up my truck for awhile for a woman who has put up with my shit for 13 years of marriage and 16 years of being together. and the fact that i get another truck soon, it was an easy trade to make.

not too mention the deal we got. and the fun factor. that car is fun, lol.

I would take one. As someone who has a POS truck now, I can totally understand switching to a car like that....I've considered it several times, too.

Gotta find some tan vinyl locally. Doesn't need to stretch very much at all so the color is the biggest concern :)

Using the side of my phone as a straight edge for drawing graphs on my circuit theory homework works surprisingly well.

Sitting there in STAT 510 class listening to the instructor drone on about probability theory, all the sudden the class room next to us starts playing hip-hop music at an obscene volume... that distracted our teacher for a good 10min. :)

Need to pick your processing first as it will influence the driver choice quite a bit. Driver location would help as well.
