I'm tempted to just paint the front baffle as well and say screw oak. Then do a walnut piece around the speaker thats been turned on a lathe to give it just a little bit more jazz.

<-- knows nothing of wood lathe's

What sort of bit do you use? I have a 6" metal lathe and have thought about turning some legs for a project or two...maybe I should just buy some aluminum stock :)

Not sure there's any non-German cars I trust (and I certainly don't trust much from Mercedes-Benz).

Anyone doing anything exciting tonight? I turned down what was sure to be thrilling (*rolls eyes*) bowling and the bar tonight.

went to a home & garden tradeshow, ate some stellar Thai food, and the w is already asleep. (I kept her up last night pretty late and she needs her sleep). Alone time for me now either on the pc or finishing up some shit in the garage.

I already miss the days of only minor computer intervention in the car, this whole on integration thing scares me as I just see big repair bills and no benefits.

I guess once I get a few coats of sanding sealer and stain on it it'll be impossible to tell from more than an inch away anyway...

I was worried about the same thing with my birch ply I used for my towers.

After a few coats of sanding sealer they were just fine. My sanding sealer sands off white ... I'm sure you know already, but make sure you vacuum or blow all of the dust off the project as it is very fine. I followed with many fine coats of lacquer. Finally, I finished with a furniture polish applied by super fine steel wool and a couple coats of furniture wax.

They should turn out just fine.

I am not such a big fan of all the finish work...probably due to laziness more than anything though. We shall see now that I actually have some semblance of a work space.

went to the track and get a few runs in, new best: 14.825

afterwards, me and another guy in the club (50+ years old, recently separated from his wife) go to Hooters for a snack. he was hitting on our waitress nonstop and somehow managed to get her number
