I can't seem to get the deal I want on the Amp/Pre-Amp so I'm thinking about just buying the speakers, building the BIB and hooking them up to my dad's Technics receiver (SA-DA15) to see what they sound like then using my Panasonic Boom box/ surround sound reciever for temporary use

Where have you been looking?

Unless you have really, really long interconnects and sources that have low preout voltages, you can use a "passive" volume control to save some money on the preamp end of things.

this the turn your drywall into a speaker guy I've been hearing about?

Not sure where have you heard that? Obviously if from me yes.

IIRC Nick Lemons was talking about a similar product he used on an install down here, I don't know if the same guy is behind it.

I hadn't heard of him before, but do know of a few others who have been unsuccessful with a similar but different enough technique.

He has a mini-array with 4 1" drivers that plays to 30hz FREE AIR. Friggin' nuts.

we need video proof.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

Then I'd have to kill you though :D

i'm willing to take that risk. lol

any chance of seeing this in person come june?

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

Ebay and audiogon mostly. My source will be my laptop from the headphone jack for a while so I'd like to have the pre-amp

at the airport :( at least I get to fly first class, hopefully something will be worth eating as I don't really feel like drinking even with the free booze.

I remember one of my friends visited the us and told me she puked on the plane because of the food

It is usually pretty decent in first class though.

free booze and you don't feel like drinking.... sounds like a level of dante's inferno

I didn't either, but of course everywhere I travel I get free booze or at least I only temporarily have to pay for stuff. Getting reimbursed is teh nice.

Hopefully. As soon as I get an order from him I am going to bug them for samples. Otherwise if you come to SoCal it is real easy as I have a stadning offer to come to his house.

Or a passive and a good sound card which would be better IMO.

Crazy since I am on WC time as well. Not sure what happened.

Woke up at 8am in CA, flew home slept a couple hours on the plane. Was exhausted and went to bed at 10 here (8pm CA???) woke up at 2am and really haven't been able to sleep since. I tried, but it didn't work. Thought sex would help, but even that didn't make me tired. WTF?

Perhaps I should chug a couple beers, but now it is 5 so I could just stay up?

12" of fresh snow overnight. I have to get a snow blower. It's started again, so there's no point in shoveling now.

Hell yeah.

I have a 13hp that takes a 45" cut ... great in all kinds of snow (unless it is too slushy). With the right snow, that thing has enough power to shoot it over my house.

Usually I'll just jump in the S300 and call it a day.
