A co worker of mine informed me about this super ultimate enclosure he used to make.

I told him it was a basic 4th order bandpass enclosure, he insisted it was not a 4th order. I cant remember what he called it, chanelled or something

The drivers are on the slant ( crappy picture) and one driver must be out of phase or it will not work

Am I wrong in saying its bandpass ?

P.S

sorry for the codebox, site wont allow me to post it

Lol, the key is in the slant :)

No matter what variation he tries to put on it, it's still a 4th order bandpass acoustical filter. When it comes down to it, you really just have different filters:

2nd Order - sealed and IB

4th Order - bass-reflex and the sealed rear chamber bandpass

6th Order - Front and rear ported bandpass

8th Order - Three chamber ported bandpass (typically one or two of the chambers firing into the third chamber)

Everything else that isn't a horn or TL is just a variation of those 4, but the characteristics are extremely similar no matter what that variation is.

2nd order is just keeping the back wave separated from front ...correct?

4th order like sup posted 1 is out of phase to keep them from canceling out each other from facing each other?

2nd order has a 12dB roll off in its response, 4th order has a 24dB roll off.

Anything much over $60 a 5th is getting out of my price range :P

Gah Dang! My friends tell me I'm buying the expensive stuff at $13/5th Smirnoff Vodka

Smirnoff isn't really drinkable

Their vodka isnt that bad.

meh, I disagree completely. Vodka that is worth drinking can be drank straight in a rocks glass at room temperature and I would never, ever enjoy an 8oz glass of smirnoff that way.

I pretty much exclusively drink beer and occasionally a Tom Collins. Hard alcohol is too hard on my stomach.

My vote for the dumbest statement of the year goes to .......

i allways said if you want music buy a sub, if you want to move air buy a fan (or a solo-x)

what is sound if it's not the movement of air ? :)

Isn't sound technically a pressure differential traveling through the air, rather than the air moving itself?

The part of that quote about only needing a sub to reproduce music is what bothers me.

I was always taught sound by definition is vibrations transmitted through , liquid, gas ( air ) , or an elastic solid . So dumbing it down so my hillbilly brain can comprehend it. :D A vibration is movement , Hence the reason I wondered what sound was if it's not moving air . :)

Note: If you are walking up the stairs in my lecture room and have to hold your jeans up with your finger through the back loop, I will tell you (especially if you are late), in front of the entire class, to buy a belt to hold your pants up because not even the concrete wants to see that.

I only have one pair of pants that requires a belt and I'll be damned if you ever catch me without a belt on.

That's just stupid. I don't understand how that would be comfortable, cool, or intelligent.

Part of my OCD is I almost always have a shirt with collar on, unless I am at the gym or on the soccer field, and I always wear a belt with pants.
