They're efficient as hell...matched with the right speaker, you only need a couple watts. Scott used a pretty inefficient driver though.

6 watts efficient?

*pssst* there is no way in hell you can fit these in a dorm room.

Take this from a guy that went through like 4 different dorm setups, all of which were extreme overkill.

Just remember that you can't have everything...

Low end output, efficiency, small size

Pick two.

FR125's wouldn't be too great with that power. They'd probably still sound great, but they're meant to be used with a bit more oomph to really fill a room.

The 4.5" versions of the drivers I have, the Fostex Sigmas, on the other hand, would be perfect...

When I was in the dorms, it was about sounding decent at high volumes, and making sure all the equipment was party-proof. So the NAD and JBL Studio gear was perfect...didn't matter it wasn't the last word in accuracy, because you aren't getting perfect staging in a dorm to begin with :)

I saved the good stuff until I moved into the apartment...and now I'm running into the limitations apartment living has.

If I was to design a dorm setup again and didn't have the smallest of rooms I think I would do a 2-way with a 10 or 12 and a Horn.

You obviously don't know my BIB's.

Saw the Sonic Impact T amp and had to ask, I just don't see myself being satisfied on 6 watts (8ohm) but then again I've never done a BIB

If you're ever in this neck of the woods I'd gladly give you a demo of what 8 watts to properly-chosen speakers sounds like :)

I still love the way my amps sounded on the Altec horns, 113dB/W will do that though...wouldn't work in the apartment :(

I know, I know, I know.

My computer HD is on the way out so I haven't bothered to really download a whole lot of it. I need to pick up some SATA cables and use these 80 gig drives I've had sitting on my desk all semester.

The more the semester progresses the more I just use my headphones for almost all my music listening.

The maggies are used for HT basically, the BIB's are sitting in the corner virtually unused, my MTM's are at home, my 3" quarter wave computer speakers I love but don't really use all that often really.

chit, I've got a lot of different setups.

I definately don't, but taking from Neon's topic I would say I have as much room, if not, more than him, I definately don't know much about BIB.

I saw a small foot print and 8 foot ceilings in a moderately sized room and it seems pretty fitting to me

Forgive me for this...

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Sorry, but I just had to giggle.

My BIB's are built on a 12" PA driver, they are over 6' tall, 22" wide, 30" deep, and weigh 150-200lbs a piece. Pain inducing levels with about 100 watts, completely stupid levels are reached with under 300watts.

Don't take that the wrong way, but my BIB's are huge, massive, unruly, and need a house. :)

Last time I used them i played with tones and something in my front door rattled at 9Hz.

Not joking.
