so anyone that knows anything about computers. I just bought a computer used (but brand new) it's a custom made with all the necessaries built into the MB, 2.1 speakers creative speakers, 17" flat screen monitor. 150gb HD, pentium 3.x ghz, wireless mouse, wired keyboard and a legal winxp key but no cd.

$200, i thought it was a hell of a deal but just wanted someone else's opinion.

Pretty good deal ... The CD doesn't matter, you can copy/download the CD; it's the key that matters ...

Personally I'd take it a step further. Tubular SLA's with different springs, shocks, and perhaps spindles. In the case of your car there is good aftermarket supprot and parts so all of the above are real viable. IMO it would be a shame to not do something to it, after all it wasn't exactly a collectable or barn burner with the 6 in it. Perfect car to cut up and take to the next level.

Perhaps with time good sir. For now, I'm saving up for a SBC and 5 speed.

Handling is like a front stage and a bigger engine like a subwoofer. I'd pick the frnot stage first. :)

I don't think that metaphor is exactly correct.....

what's handling mean if I can't even accelerate out of a turn?

Go test drive a lotus elise once. I know it is unfair as the stock corolla engine is a bit snappier than your 6, but nonetheless it will open your eyes a bit.

Sean, if I were to lower the Camaro, do you know if drop spindles or lowering springs would be better?

still not sure if I want to lower it however

well, it appears a search on the Camaro forum gave me an answer

general consensus is stock spindles/lowering springs over dropped spindles/stock springs

Neither. You really should do SLA's, aftermarket springs, and spindles.

Depending on how long before you order, I can give you all sorts of pics of my buddies 69 firebird which is currently almost in primer.

Are you sure? Everyone I know recommends changing spindles and shocks because when you change springs, you change spring ratio and lose some comfort.

People have had clearance problems with the dropped spindles, and the stock springs could stand to be a tad stiffer.

i have heard you should definitely change the shocks when changing ride height, changing to a shock that is usable with the new ride height.

I'm going to put new shocks in it eventually. The thing is that I can change them without having to completely take apart the front end again so they can wait a bit. Also, while most of the stuff is 40 years old, the shocks are only about 15 years old.

Whoa big fella. Slow down a minute, I wouldn't take the Camaro forum answers nearly as much as ones from a few other places. This outta help a bit.

Here is a link for you from a well known Camaro handling guru:

http://www.pozziracing.com/first_gen_suspension.htm

Either way you should really decide the end that you are trying to reach and make sure to take only the steps necessary to get there. Changing from the 6 to the 8 alone is going to require different springs, but either way yours are shot as they are 40 years old. Your bushing are crap, your arms are stressed and the stock shocks are useless. If you are going to replace it all you should really look at matching the whole works together and it will also need to match your drivetrain weight as well.

I plan to have the front end done by the time the fall semester starts, but any and all pics are welcome

Yep, I know of Pozzi. I'm on Camaros.net, and he posts a lot there. In fact, he's one of the guys that said springs over spindles.

What am I trying to accomplish? For right now, I'm just making a fun, reliable driver. I know there are products that offer huge improvements over the stock pieces, but I can't justify the cost of them at the moment. Maybe years down the road I'll throw everything at it.

What I plan to get done in the next month: entire front-end rebuild with poly bushings, '69 Z-28 front, power disc brake conversion, and Hotchkis lowering springs.

How much is the z-28 conversion costing? The whole Z06 setup isn't all that much...

I haven't been yet, but my buddy with the bird has. IIRC he said it was about $800 for the fronts, but I may be remembering the rears. Sure beats the $5k required for the Wilwoods, but of course 15" rotors at all four corners is pretty cool.

I just got the biggest mid year bonus I have ever received. Actually I haven't gotten it yet, but my boss called to personally congratulate me and tell me how much it was. If my damn house sells other projects will move forward faster now... ;)

research and crapaudio shouldn't be in the same sentence, although for classifieds I will let it roll.

What do you guys think of the Arc Audio amp here? It would require sending back to Arc for repair, but it seems like a good deal once it's fixed.

Won't be just one. I have lots of upcoming projects, most aren't car audio related but all will have audio involved.

Great amp, but $350 isn't all that cheap.

that would be pretty cool, but another thing is that I refuse to put wheels larger than 15"s on it.
