Anybody know where to get HT receivers/etc for on teh cheap other than egay ?

So far every site I've found has been asking as much or more for the receiver I am looking at than what I could walk into Best Buy and get it for new w/ warranty.

Where are all of the HT whore websites like we have for car audio ?

Do you absolutely need a receiver?

Could you live without a tuner?

Part of your problem is looking at stuff that's sold in Best Buy, you're not going to find deals that way, on BPC (Black Plastic Crap) :D

<-------- :noob:

But yeah, it does need a tuner. All of my CD's reside in my vehicle...so most of the time when we're listening to music in the house it's the radio.

I'm not looking for audiophile quality home audio....just something to breath a little life into movies and better quality audio than what I have now (10yr old Magnavox bookshelf system).

Looking at the Pioneer VSX-816. Good internal power @ 100wpc, full preamp outputs should I get a hair up my butt and want to up the ante to external amplificators, has all of the AV I/O that I need and it's under $300 even at retail.

Brad I picked up an Elite Thx receiver at a pawnshop for $250. Complete all the way down to Burr Brown DAC and autoswitching on digital in. I wouldn't ever even think of buying new anywhere near that price range. If you don't have $700+ to spend buying used is going to be the only reasonable solution in my book.

Jury duty on Tuesday.

Are you excited to work for $20 a day? Hopefully yours won't last two weeks like mine did.

Well at 30 days a month thats 600 bones.........god forbid people be able to somehow pay bills while doing a civic duty.

God forbid even being able to buy lunch.

Jury Duty in MN, $20 a day.

Parking during Jury Duty $17 a day which leaves $3 for lunch. Try and do that in the downtown skyway and it will yield you a microwave burrito and a can of pop.

They do give you free bus passes, but I'd have to drive a few miles to catch one. The time is worth more to me than the money at that point as well.

A buddy of mine just bought a 69 Firebird. It will be in the body shop for the next month or so, but then we get to go to town on his door panels. Gonna run something active off a 9813 and to whatever drivers I can fit. He is bringing the door skins and pictures of the inner door home today. :boobs2:

i have potential jury duty coming up. i've been pulled for not one, but two seperate cases. one in a week, another in 22 days. but at least parking is free, lol.

i had someone offer to buy my mustang yesterday, lol should've tossed them a high number.....

congrats on the camaro tom!

i guess i need to turn signatures back on for a bit, check out jordan's new banner.

steve or aaron, ever heard of this...i was doing leg presses, not much weight, jsut over 500pds, when i was bringing the weight down, my knee hit my lower rib cage and i heard a pop. no major pain, but it's tight and hurts when i stretch. it also hurts and makes it hard to breathe when i lay on that side (my left). and what exactly are straight leg deadlifts good for, other then tightening up my lower back to the point i can't lift for a bit?

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

Kent, with out being there it is hard for me to know exactly what it is (pop), but I have from time to time felt what seemed like some muscle fiber jumped over a rib. I dont think you tore something, but go easy on it for a few days, we dont repair as fast as we used to. ;)

As for straight leg dead lifts, they work almost the entire back, (with out straps) forearms, glutes (your tookus), and hammys. But please make sure you keep good form on that and keep your back straight. Seen to many people lift out of form and strain their back.
