Welcome to the IHoP

Audiokarma.org is full of vintage junkies that think Kenwood bookshelf speakers with five way supertweets and a big Pioneer receiver is the pinnacle of hi-fi, and look at you funny if you didn't buy your stuff at a yard sale for twenty bucks...not to mention there's a strong legion of cassette tape fanboyz that will swarm when threatened...

Audiocircle is nothing but a huge manufacturer's forum, they have a nice open baffle section but that's about it.

Audioasylum has the best discussion but their software sucks, you can't track a thread past a few replies before it all gets jumbled.

DIYAudio is great but they shun you if you recommend something already assembled.

HTGuide, well, if you don't have five channels and a big screen, GTFO.

AVS gives me epilepsy.

I haven't been to htguide in a while. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE there rotel and B & W thread though, with show your setup. I almost cream everytime I look at it.

I usually just read diyaudio, this forum, and elitecaraudio.

2) with digital, your actual focal length is longer than you think...if you slap a lens that was 50mm on 35mm film, it's going to be around 75mm for digital. The sensor's smaller than a frame of 35mm film.

Did not realize that with digitals, my main camera is/was a Canon AE-1, old school film goodness :)

There is definitely such a thing as a stupid question. Many stupid questions, in fact.

My first SLR was an A-1, I loved that thing.

Well, if you have Canon lenses already, might as well go with that...

I miss my Contax and Zeiss stuff :(

Everything I've read about the rebels say you can shoot in RAW, is it just one specific rebel that won't let you?

I don't have any new Canon lenses, just the old school stuff that won't work on the new bodies.

You let your body detrain, and that always sucks. No worries though - you'll get back at it and notice your strength slowly start to come back.

I take a week off here and there and come back feeling a boatload stronger ... I like how that works :P

Sean, an FYI if you come to Kansas sometime in the next month. All my stereo gear will be gone this weekend and won't be setup untill June 1 when I'm in the house in Manhattan, anytime after June 1 I'll be flip-flopping back between home and manhattan so if your in the area sometime after June 1 I'll be around.

One of the grad students in the Civil dept. where I work (just got his PhD) said one day that there are no stupid questions, just stupid people that ask them. :)
