Welcome to the IHoP

Just an FYI to anyone looking for audio equipment. I may be selling my gear. MAYBE is a key word. I think I can hold off for another 3 or 4 weeks. My bank account if officially F'd. I overdrafted and got hit with enough fee's to choke a mule.

Basically everything is a feeler right now. You guys can let me know if you are interested in anything, I will get back to you on a price, and once I get to the point of no return I will contact you about selling.

P-9 combo is going to be $700 probly (please note that it needs to be serviced. I can do this as I have been quoted $90+whatever parts cost)(The CD tray is loose and causes CDs to skip on a regular basis on or after track 10 or so.)

Amps...

Sound stream D100 $50

JBL 75.2 $100?

Memphis 300 $150?

Memhis 1000d $200?

Speakers

Coustic ref 4" mids $30

Extremis $100

Mag is one thing that I really dont want to part with so I am going to say $300...

For those in 'major' cities, what would you say the average price of a home is outside (up to a 30 minute drive) in an established or up and coming suburb?

~35 miles from LA.

Average house price 4-500k.

And for that price, I wouldn't expect much. :(

A house like Justin's would be 700k minimum here.

My house is 28 miles from dallas and it is $220k. Its 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath, huge kitchen, 2 story, and a pool. Good schools too.

$220K would work for me. I bet it is a nice area too.

Two years from now might find me looking for a home in the US. I don't know if I'm prepared to move down there, but I'm keeping my options open. I realize the housing market will change by then, though.

if you decide to look in the Phoenix area, i know a really good real estate agent

Hell, that money would get you a house twice that size around here. Even in Indy, the COL is low. Not much difference between there and South Bend.

Figured I'd be looking at a minimum of $450K outside of LA.

Wonder what other areas of CA are like.

Assumes 3br+ 2200sqft home:

In SoCal between 700k=1mil

Mpls (Denver is usually similar) 500-600k

East Coast (non NY) 500-600k

Chicago 650-800k

Milwaukee 300k

Detroit 250k

Of course in some of these there could easily be a 100k+ difference between 15m and a 30m drive.

How is Dallas so frigging cheap. For $220k in MN, you get a 1.5bedroom, small kitchen, no garage, falling apart starter home.

35 miles from LA is way beyond his 30min drive requirement. More like an hour and a half and indeed it would be a not so nice home.

San Diego is worse, San Francisco is similar...

My bro-in-law owns a condo in downtown San Diego. 1100sq ft, 8 blocks from anything, only on the 10th floor, not even finished super nice and it was $850k. The parking spot was extra.

Basically if you like the $220k number and really want a 30min drive or less you need to look for cities that are either in economic hardship (Detroit for instance) or cities that have well less than 2 million residents. At that number, probably 1 million or less but I am not that familiar with the South.
