Welcome to the IHoP

yesterday was not fun by any definition. Stayed home for the day thinking we were going to put a new timing belt on mom's car. Get down to the timing belt and see antifreeze. Then we find the water pump is shot, AND none of the parts stores have one in stock.

So now dad has to finish up the car basically by himself. No big job, but watching him try to get a DOHC engine in time makes me wanna rip my hair out.

Nah.

Six feet tall, but very narrow :) Imp's are tall and take up floor space.

I've got a couple options for cabinets if I go the horn route...basically comes down to normal, mildly insane, and committed...but I don't have the room for the two bigger options up here, and part me wants to run them in the apartment real bad...

Can I ask you guys something? When did you know what you wanted to do in life? I mean......when did you decide....in college I suppose, saying," this is what I want to do the rest of my life." I'm still waiting on that to hit me :-/

Exact same chit going on here... I've spent the last hour looking at career assesment/personality assesment stuff to see what good "careers" are for people like me. 'Bout all of them say engineering, but I don't want to do all this calc and physics chit, I just don't get it. I enjoy figuring out how stuff works, but by taking it apart and looking at it, then putting it back together. I quite frankly don't give a damn about the theory behind any of it.

yeah...I mean a while back I wanted to major in some form of health or fitness or whatever but after looking at the degree plan and seeing it had 28 hours of science I said screw that. It's b/c I've never even had chemistry so to jump into something like that, well I feel I'd struggle a lot..if not fail all together. The only thing I know I could do with somewhat ease is a degree in computers. But nothing my school offers computer wise really interests me. They just have web developer, network administrator, uhh Graphic Design, and something else. And out of all those the network admin would be my choice but I'm really into technology as a whole. I like the new inventions that come out, I like figuring out how they work. I mean just stuff like that.

whatever though, someday it'll click I spose.

If your school dosen't have it, switch colleges.

On the MBTI test thingy, I'm an ISTP (Introvert, Sensing, Thinking, Perceiving) person, and they make up 6% of the population... Thats an awful small number, lol.

I am still looking, but part of the answer is work for myself.

I think it just hit me a few months ago what I'd like to do for the time being, by no means for the rest of my life but if I can take things a couple years at a time I'll be happy with that...

I'm OK with the idea of graduating with a degree in something that's totally unrelated to what my current employment would be.

I quite frankly don't give a damn about the theory behind any of it.

Most of my knowledge of theories or abstract principles has come from either reading about what other people have blown up and fixed, or blowing something up myself and then wondering...hmm...why did that almost kill me :P

On average people change jobs every 3 years for the first bit out of school. Don't worry too much about getting into the right field right away, but always keep your mind open and see where it takes you.

i still don't know what i want to do with my life, career i know what i WILL do, but that's a total internal struggle that i'll be forced to deal with for the rest of my life.

my biggest problem is i refuse to graduate with a degree that i won't really use, just feels like wasted time and money to me. Though the way the job market is, most companies only care that you have a degree, not what it's actually in.

well thx for the replies guys, I guess I'm not the only one who thinks this way. I thought about maybe going to portland b/c I liked the school up there but that's a huge move and I don't know might pick something a little closer to home.

I just graduated college and still have no clue. I'm actually taking some community college now to dabble in something else. :P

College was really lame for me b/c I was never exposed to much of anything outside of my major.

If I was you I would just try taking a variety of classes and searching online for various occupations.
