I used to work for a tool named Palle. He was an arse from Denmark and really doesn't like me, especially now. Something to do with a rather pointed exit letter. After reading it the company tried to hire me back, which further infuriated Palle.

I know there are yankees fans on here, but if you are from Baltimore or Boston, you curse the day you lose to them.  And last night just took the cake for me.  Bedard had pitched into the 7th with a 3-1 lead over former O's ace Mussina (yet again typical yankees, stealing the best thing other teams have going for them, ie Abreu, Damon, Rodregiez, Giambi, so on and so on), they pull Bedard for a middle reliver who is wild and not quite the type to handle the over the top NY crowd.  Needless to say homerun game lost in the bottom of the 7th, oh and as if we are going to mount a comeback in the top of the 9th against Rivera with the 8,9,1 batters.  :wtf: people he throws really only one pitch?

You know, people bitch about George buying up all the talent, but if you think about it, not only is he getting good players, he's taking them AWAY from a possible opponent. Wise business move if you ask me, and anymore, that's exactly what baseball has become. ALso, we all know if another team had the same capital and drive as The Boss, they would be doing the same damn thing. Boston is starting to get more like them everyday, yet people still only complain about the Yankess.

I've been a Yanks fan since I knew what baseball was, and dammit, this actually pisses me off. I prefer the Yanks to use their farm system and work with players bringing them up and having a team of NOT OUTSTANDING players, but a bunch of great players. Just like they were in the mid to late 90s. No one player truly stood out, yet as a team, they were unstopable. Same think with the pale Sox last year.

As for the Rivera part, yes, the fastball is all he has, but man, when you see that damn pitch in person, you have to look twice cuz he throws so damn hard, you can barely see the ball. I can't believe guys can even hit him. Bobby Jenks is next to do this. I don't know why that guy even bothers to throw an off speed pitch. His speed is blinding.

Just does not seem at all in the spirit of the game, but who cares about that anymore right? Let the player make the mistake and learn somewhere else, then when he is ready offer him more money than he has ever seen and drain everything you can out of him then toss him off like a used rag. :angry22:

IF I didn't love baseball so much, the politics would be enough to make me never watch it. That's why I LOVE college basketball, and only watch the NBA in the playoffs. I love to watch the guys who just play cuz they love it and are striving to get better every minute.

I will use the highest payed player in BB as an example though. He didn't ASK for that money, it was offered to him. IMO, there was NO WAY IN HELL he could refuse that offer. Frankly, I think he has not been happy since leaving Seattle. He seemed the happiest there, and almost like he really wants to go back. We'll see what happens once the contract is up. He really can't have any need for more money, so I believe his heart will weigh more in his decision on where to sign next.

FYI, I read somewhere that the Yankees make enough money just in just merchandising alone in the first half of the season to pay player salaries. Can you imagine exactly just how much money George is making per season, not to mention they are selling merchandise non stop.

If he knew then, what he does now I can almost guarantee he would have never signed that contract. Still got what? 6 years left on it? You can see how unhappy he is every play he makes on the field. You can't play the game like that, it will eat you up (especially in NY)

My AE did not ship the right demo, slightly embarassing as I couldn't do the measurement.  Yesterday was cool though, I did a measurement on the smallest "speaker" I have ever seen.  The magnet was less than a micron (10^-6 meters) accross.  In order to see the "cone" move we need a microscope with a 20x objective and and the 1.5v we were  sending it the "cone" moved a whopping 60pm (10^-12 meters).  Obviously it isn't really a speaker, but it is a magnet, a voice coil, and a "cone" which happens to be a flat cantilever.  Pretty nuts.

Cool, what was it for ?

Measuring micromechanical magnetometers for quantifying nanomagnetism. It is an attempt to create a sensor to measure magnetic specimens below the superparamagnetic limit at room temperature allowing the scientist to understand what the individual effects of a single magnetic particle within a system has in quantum effects instead of just the global system itself. blah, blah, blah.... basically looking at the fundamental magentism of atomic particles to further understand theorems that we have already developed. To us really, at the moment it is useless but this is the sort of things that National labs investigate and in some ways the technology that fuels society.

Thought I'd share what sorts I get to deal with on a day to day basis and then simplify in the end.
