seems the people who designed it were so infatuatied with the schevy astro van, the xb was designed to look as close to it as they could....

Except the Astro is utilitarian and sweet, the xB is yuppie and uncool.

My partsexpress order is right around 200 bucks with shipping, ahhhhhh.  This crap is to expensive.

I am about to order $300 worth of damn passive crossover components. The dark side is winning.

DCX-2496 FTW!

Sold out the last I looked and the slopes aren't steep enough. I will be getting one soon though for my mains which will be all active.

Cheap. Weren't you looking for 8th order slopes? Right there buddy.. Computer programming available to boot if you'd like. Pretty much all the control you could need and an endless love with the DEQ2496.

Chris, don't bother plotting the driver in anything short of LEAP. For some reason, there is no way to get it to look good, nor should it.

How much does it cost to get LEAP?

Somehow or another I didn't do my plans right on my Mains, so I've got to shorten the sides a little to get it to come out right. Since its gonna be shorter the volume is going to be smaller than what I thought it was going to be so I believe I need to add some polyfill.

For the polyfill I was just planning on putting a 1" thick or so padding all around on the inside the walls and a little thinner on the bracing. Ideas??

She-i-o, I haven't looked at one of these in a couple of months but thought it was just 4th order slopes only. I do plan to use one when I build some mains, but I can't run a whole HT and house stereo active. Not unless I buy stock in an amplifier company.

You might already be adding enough. It will really depend on you though. Try it a couple ways. You can always put some in loose and see which way it sounds best to you.

Ok, question regarding Polyfill. What type do I want?? Theres about a million different types of this stuff, whats best? The batting type that is more of a roll, or the loose stuff.

Polyfill noob here...

Polyester pillow stuffing at Wal-Mart FTW. Same stuff. The loose suff is preferred for sealed enclosures, while the batting is more useful in a vented enclosure where you can attach it to the walls to keep it awat from the vent and drivers.
