Jntar, you know you want a B-series in your SPL beater...gonna need it when you put 2 MT 15's in there :D

your old 55horse carburated engine aint gonna be loving life.

Its a trailor queen...and you forgot...each of the kenetiks are 75lbs :) Thats 300lbs just in batteries :rofl2:

ok so here is the tally

300lbs in battery

120lbs in woofage

probably 160lbs in enclosure

20lbs in ampage

another 20lbs in wire

and 200lbs in operator.

I bet that CRX wasnt born thinking it would carry 820lbs of stuff. :wacky:

hehe..that's weak..

kevin's crx (the pic i posted in jntar's thread) had around 600pds in just subwooferage..and he drove it just about everywhere....maybe not quickly, but he drove it...:lol2: add in the enclosure, a couple of 9.0's, a couple of batteries and kevin (about 225pds)..that car was a heavy hauler...

and extremely loud too!!!!!

jim...

do tube amps have a natural hiss when playing full range? i didn't notice the hiss from the 300c until i ran my boy's mt cabinets on it. the hiss doesn't get louder as the volume goes up, but there is a bit of "distortion" throughout that the cabinets don't exhibit when played on his bookshelf...

Natural hiss?

Single-ended output stages have a low-level hum that doesn't go up as the volume increases...but where that's an SS output stage, I wouldn't expect there to be much of a hiss. Especially not on (relatively) low efficiency speakers. I have a slight hum with the Klipsch's, but then again, those are several times more efficient and even then I can't hear anything more than a foot away or so.

I bet it's due to them using really high gain tubes - 12AX7s are known for being "hot". Dropping in a pair of GE 5751's would drop the preamp stage's gain by 30%, but you're there and I'm here :)

Now that you mention it, it'll be something I try when it's finally my turn with it...

ok...now you remeber that the boy's cabinets are dayton 7" alum mids and hifi 1" textile dome tweeter...dunno if your thinking a factory bookshelf system or not...

ok

me: Mom, i want to order my yellow top tonight. Jegs has it for $183 shipped

Mom: i cant beleive you are spending all of that money on a battery, why cant you just get a $50 walmart battery?

Me: Because this is deepcycle, its sealed, and it isnt phased by vibration

Her: my battery works just fine and so does the one you have

Me: But they dont put out near the cranking amps and they dont have near the reserve capasity and they arent sealed or as vibration resistant.

Her: i dont see how that battery is any different than any other

Me: ok here ill draw you two diagrams on how each battery works, conventional deep cycle and Optima deep cycle. *draws picture on napkin in texas road house*

Her: That doesnt make any sence.
