I'm aware that a lot of it falls under the realm of psuedo-science that hasn't been backed up since the original findings were discovered...

Regardless, you're going to get a lot of people pissed off if you aren't careful with an unmodulated RF carrier - especially in Florida, the state that has probably the highest rate of FCC enforcement anywhere.

1. "Hobbyist" is not an adjective, it's a noun.

2. No :)

It may be the coolest way to heat spoons, I'll agree with you on that one.

I just know that if I lived down the street from you, you'd be getting a knock on your door... :ehh:

ok either way, there are two major HAM radio meets here in Lake City every year. Most do it as a hobby, i know, i went to one. HAM radio didnt intrest me in the least. BUt to each his own.

BTW, what radio clasification are you? I know a guy who is an instructor (and is very old) who has been involved in HAM radio since the 40's when he was in the military. Dude is rich as hell too, has a house up in NC, here in FL, and owns his own island down by Miami.

It only explains some of it. There's just so much more.

Those types of shows are good for deals on stuff, but the people that populate those things are generally idiots.

I have a General class license...studying for the highest one, but some things I still get wrong on the tests - mostly having to do with reading Smith Charts and calculating impedance in vector form. Passed the 5wpm Morse exam...tried for the 20wpm, but missed it by a little bit. Just didn't have enough solid copy to pass.

But they dropped the 13 and 20wpm tests anyway, so it doesn't matter :)
