If I don't get a call from Hawthorne Stereo today about my preamp refund, tomorrow they're going to wish they had called me :D :D

Never make a quiet guy raise his voice...

Thanks, I should have remembered....

Since you have no "finished" pics I assume that the stock door grill covered them just fine? Looks like a 3/4" baffle, any clearance troubles?

Stock grill covered just fine. That is 3/4" yes. Only mod was to make the door pannel holes 1/8" larger. Most drivers you wont have troubles though. Currenty I have the extremis in door with a 1/4" baffle :) they are an inch from the pannel.

They sold me something that didn't live up to what was advertised, so I returned it...and never got my refund check.

And for $750, I'm not letting this one go away...

Nah, won't die, only so much they can do to me over the phone :)

Oh, if it was a local place I wouldn't have left until I got my money.

As I look at the plans on decware's site for an Imperial folded horn, the more I think I should build one.

But I wouldn't have anywhere to put the damn thing, its huge, and I wouldn't have a use for it for a few years.

The Imp. horn would be sweet...although not as a subwoofer cabinet. Too much HF remnants up to 600Hz or so. Although Steve has come out with the "Sub Only" version that takes care of that.

I'd still rather have a pair of Kleinhorns :)

Nelson Pass does...

His "J-Low" horns are much more reasonable...six foot high horns for a single 4" driver, much easier cabinet construction.

But your audio e-penii won't be quite as long as with those :D

Think I may go DIY on the new preamp, save me some money towards a 'table...$300 should build something that works really well and looks sharp.

Will leave me $450 left over, almost enough to buy a '1200MK2 new from a dealer...think they retail in the $500 range these days without cartridges.

Nelson is pretty rad. I have a back issue of Stereophool where they interviewed him. He's nice and down to earth.
