Tom, as for crate motors I just had a colleague mail me a Bimmer magazine, they sell my engine in their as a long block for only $10,995 -- a bit more than $3k.

doesn't show much, but the engine is in great shape, body is in near perfect shape (one spot needs some work, and i gotta change door skins).  It needs paint, but for temporary it will just get a nice buffing.

just got done mowing the yard, moving the spring pole and breaking it in the process and now have to go to lowes to buy some angle iron to rebuild it.

I know of a place to get an 350 LT1 long block that produces quite a bit more power than mine for only $4k

And the bummer is I have a ripped boot, which I cannot get until Monday. It really is only sort of a bummer, I test drove the car while you can see the ground and WOW does the engine sound wicked inside. Made me tear off a bunch of miles from my snow tires...can't wait until my summer tires come in.
