Some testing:

http://basszone.stryke.com/deonspace/cabin.html

The larger the vehicle, lower the frequency at which cabin gain occurs.

So... for example, in your M5, I would expect the cabin gain to be at ~30Hz, where in my Neon, it is around ~40Hz. Use this thought to design your enclosure for optimum flatness. Usually cabin gain is around 10dB-15dB, dependant of course on shape of the interior, and materials used in the construction.

Thanks for the links, I understood the gain but based on what I see maybe I will measure it anyway. The question I really had, I should have worded better. If I have generically a gain of 10dB at 30Hz, should I then design the enclosure to be 10dB down at 30Hz and only look at that number or are there other factors you take into account.

Lots of other factors.... sub location, materials used in interior construction, subwoofer itself, shape of interior, etc.

You can only guess soo much with the enclosure, make it the best, most educated guess possible, but only your ears & RTA will give you the feedback that will make it perfect.

As far as what you have right now, it is as good as it can get without doing the good ol' trial & error.

Cool...

I have a question.

Any idea why we are getting a ton of porn threads in o/t section? Is it someone messing with us? or an incorrect link somewhere?

the only way around it is that I verify every single member that joins, and that will slow traffic and membership rates, I need to look into the coding so the super mods could help on new member verifcation

Will be pulling out the FFT analyzer in a week or two to make some measurements, I just was trying to make sure that the theory and myself were on the same page. Thanks.

Hate to bombard you guys with Q?'s, but I unpackaged the DX-28 and have never run into balanced/unbalanced inputs before and the darn manual has print that is too small to read since they scanned it poorly. I do not have balanced lines, do I need to make adapters or just use which of the 4 inputs?

Thanks but you can't read the print where it shows the breakout of the inputs. I did look, even though I must say I have minimum patience for looking.

I need a sub or subs on the cheap, like $50 or less.

The CVs a no go?

It's for a friend. I was gonna try those Clarion 8s from Madisound, but they're sold out, and I can't find any anywhere else.

I need something small that can fit in 1 cube or less and handle 300@4ohms.

does it have to be 18s though? i'd never be able to fit that. Other than that they sounds pretty nice

We should get ahold of Adire and have them design us a subwoofer.

Just rented Madagascar. It's actually really funny (IMO) for an animated movie.

Goddy Mike locked the 5 hottest women thread.... :(

I sent him a PM, hopefully he will unlock it.

He did it for a reason.

no nips or lips, kids couldnt follow the rules

He locked it cause of me, or atleast I was the last to post and get posts deleted.

My pics were 99% in the TOS the other 1% was on the line with wet t-shirts and 1 that was probly 1/16 of a nipple, I dont care that he deleted them, they were not porn, but locking it was not a good thing IMO. Oh and I did NOT post any lips ;)

It was me who told him to lock it.

A nipple is a nipple, how hard is it to find pictures that dont include those things ?

We have the HOB for things like that, only a select few are allowed in it.

Hottest chick thread is open for all.
