Recommended Posts

I just got a list from the installers at the shop and they gave me a list of crap that i really dont need, but I have narrowed it to what I am going to get. If anyone has an idea of where i can order these somewhere cheaper that would b great. Anyway here is the list

150 amp Circuit Breaker

100amp CB

2 Ground T-Blocks--?

Fuse Holder with 300amp fuse--

Batcap

Rca's

Speaker Wire

5 0/1 gauge o rings

Can someone help me on where to get this.

Okay, lets do it this way: Tell us what equipment you are going to install and we'll hook you up with a list of what you want!

well you don't need a batcap. I'm not a big fan of circuit breakers, why don't they just use a fused distribution block for the power wire? What size wire are they going to use? I also don't know where/how they're going to use 5 ring terminals. They should only need one for one power wire at the battery. Nor how they're going to use two ground distribution blocks, again they should only need one, just like one for the power wire.

The ring terminals were for the batcap i think. That's where the extra 4 came from i believe.

yea that does make since,

I'm using 0/1 or 1/0 gauge wire, At first he said I needed a 3 way distribution block, then he said seperate CB's

Oh and I went and got a yellowtop optima 2 put under the hood, couldn't i just use the factory battery as the spare batt?

also I am getting a buddie that is a mechanic to do the Big 3 and he said all he needs is the wire and right connection and he will do it, so I firgured I would use the 1/0 gauge wire I have coming. What connectors would I need? Or do I have to look under the hood?

I use to run amps when I was younger, but I've never done a system that needed this chit b4, and I broke my back last year so I can't do that chit anymore.

You'll need some of the rings for the Big-3. How many depends on the battery terminals.

it never hurts to have some spares laying around, you should be able to get them relatively cheap

so you think I should get the CB's or the 3 way Distibution block? Where do I get the 300amp fuse holder?

I looked at knu, but all there distr. blocks only had 1/0 gauge going in and 4 gauge going out, I think that is why he went with the CB's

Depending on the model Batcap, it is a battery. Model 800 and above are batteries.

Don't the 1200Ds only take 4 ga power wire? Depending on the length of the wire run from the distro block to the amp, 4ga should be more than enough.

yea it was a 800 that he suggested, if there just batteries, why not get a yellowtop instead? Yellowtop is cheaper.

The 1200D will take 1/0 gauge, it will take 4 gauge easily.

Ok I guess I'm gonna order one of these, unless someone can tell me if it is or isn't a T-Block, or whatever that is haha.

I guess I am going to order to CB's, unless someone thinks there is a 3way distrubtion block that can do 1/0 gauge.

thx

Josh

Oh btw all the parts I ordered for the install came up to around 100 bucks, the audio shop estimate for what they were gonna charge me was 775~~~ WTF, unbelievable.

you really don't need a distribution block that outputs 1/0. It only needs to accept 1/0 input, and you can have 4 guage go to each amp. I know there are some of those around.

The ground distribution block doesn't have to be fancy. You can just get an unfused "power" distro block and turn it around so that it basically has three inputs and one output.

So I need to look for a 3 way thats not fused?

you think I should just use the spare batt instead of the batcap

BATCAPs and Yellow Tops aren't the same thing.

I know this, someone said I didn't need a batcap so I asked if I should just use the spare or if I should get another yellowtop.

I'm still not sure if I need a batt/ batcap
