can you look at this... look fine to you?

Recommended Posts

Im looking at this... for one Fi 18" BTL....

internal dimensions of: 17"H x 29.5"W x 31.5"D

I subtracted .26 for speaker displacement, 1.428 for port displacement, and just guessed around .2 for bracing displacement (im mostly gonna use .75" threaded rods and some 2x2)... and I came up with a NET Volume of 7.25 cubes and the port is gonna be 17"h x 6"w x 26"d (with a total of 102 sq "/ 14.06 cubic inches each ft3) ...I came up with a 33.22 hz tune with all this.....

can ya'll review these specs, and let me know if this all seems correct? I would greatly appreciate it!!! :foshizzle: :foshizzle:

thanks,

john

Your port is so deep, you only have a 6.25" opening in the rear, so the corner behind the port will act like part of the port.

You really will end up with around 6.8 ft^3 net volume with close to 32 Hz for tuning.

Should work great for a BTL 18.

How much power are you going to run?

well damn.... 32hz is fine with me, even better IMO.... So you think the exact specs I have will work just fine? just diferant volume than I thought and diferant port tuning? So the length of the port is fine and all,but it'll just be a 32hz tune instead of 33hz?

Im gonna be running 3000w rms (SAZ-3000D @ 1ohm).... thanks for the comment.... that helped me out alot before I spend all that time hacking wood, building this box,lol....

if you don't mind replying back to tell me what you think about that kind of power with this box size? Thanks

Ps- if I should have a diferant box, do you mind throwing something together for me? as long as the box is 31" wide and 22" high.... then everything will be good.... thanks again... cheers :drink40:

It all looks good to me. I like the way 18's perform in 6.5-7 ft^3.

The 3000D will work great - just make sure the subsonic fliter is set so you do not mechanically kill the driver.
