Fi 15's or ED 15's

Recommended Posts

I have a 2002 Ford Explorer with dimensions of

Front to Back - 36"

Left to Right - 45*1/2"

Height - 19"

I currently am running 6 13w1v2's off of 2 Kicker ZX1500.1 and I am looking to get to 15" and narrowed my options to the 15" BL's.

I am wondering what size box I should get and what I should have it tuned too. My box now is the exact dimensions that I've given above. I plan on putting 1 Kicker ZX1500.1 to each of the 15". I like the real low bass as in Young Jeezy, Gorilla Zoe, Lil John...etc but I wanna make sure that my highs are also good. Any idea on what I should get the box tuned too? Are the BL's a good replacement for the 6 that I have in there now?

Any info would be appreciated

You have (6) 13W1's and you are going to replace them with (2) 15" BL's?

You are cutting your cone area to almost 1/3. . . .

Are the w1's sealed or ported? You going to port the BL's???

I would think about (4) 15" SSD's ported if you could make the new box 20-21" tall.

I have been looking around a while and going back and forth, I think I have narrowed it down to 3 sub types.

The Fi Q and BL 15's or the Elemental Designs 16Ov.2 subs, I am going to put these into an 08 Mazda6 and I am looking for good SPL with a nice tight SQ. That is why I have narrowed it down to these models. I would like some opinions on the difference in the Q and BL's and if anyone has experience with the ED and how they would compare to the Fi Subs.

Also Which amp should I get 2 run these? I was looking at a AQ2200D and an orion d2400 , any others I should look into or work well with these?

Thx

Josh

Anything but the ED. And also don't get the AQ. The orion would be better.

What kind of box are these going in? In that smallish car two 15s would be crazy loud no matter what. I'd do two Qs in a sealed box with 1200-1500 watts of power.

why does everybody not like aq?im betting most of yall havent even attempted to use one, skeptical cuz u dont really know the brand? well thats what other people think when theyve never heard of all these other good amps, lol they were designed by us amps.. and their subs designed by digital designs

well ive had good experiences with the aq 2200 very solid amp. and pushes tha hell outa some rockford t1 15's

Any reason for the switch?

With the same electrical power, and reduced radiating area you're bound to sacrifice performance.

so answering whether or not they're a good replacement is difficult.

I'll be the first to admit I haven't used one, but a number of people on this board I respect with regards to their knowledge of amplifiers have voted it down. I trust their opinions as much as my own in this matter.

Subs and amps from a company can be of two very different qualities.

Ok I think I am goin with the Q's but now I have some more questions! :)

Should I go with a sealed or vented box? reason?

I wanna spend 300-450 on an amp I can get the orion for 300 and the AQ is around 390 I think, What would you sugest amp wise to be the most reliable and sustaining amp for these subs in that price range.

Also should I go with 1 ohm or 2? Which options should I select for these 15's ... I dont really understand what all those options are that I can choose from.

Can anyone suggest a decent amp for highs? I wanna replace my components first and worry about the rears later, I guess I should go ahead and do them all, If I did them all which amp should I get for the highs? Or will I be able to push them off the amp also.

I wanna order these asap so any help would be greatly apreciated.

Thx

Josh

I am getting bored of the 13W1's and want something different and wanna try FI out. I just think that the 15" will be banging if I were to get them. If you think 4 of the SSD's would sound better let me know.

Obviously, the title of the thread completely distracted me :(

LoL Sorry! I meant the most SQ from those brands of 15's , which sounded better between the two. I apologize for that. I can see now how that would be distracting.

Very sorry for the confussion

Josh
