Amp over heating

Recommended Posts

hey guys i just drove back from work (i usually take the train) i was listening to my music the whole way home with the volume on 21 for almost 2 hours by the time i got home my sub was cutting in and out and when i got home the lcd screen on the amp said "hot " "77.9" degrees Celsius ( i knew it was before i looked) i know that my gains are not high, is that normal cause of the long duration? my stereo is an alpine cdx 9884 i believe goes to 35 max volume and my amp is a alpine mrd -m1005. what do you think guys?

thanks again

Billy

well if you plan on running the amp that hard that long all the time add a fan.... also i have found that amps run cooler when they have more power to draw on... so maybe a thicker power wire. thicker ground....

i would do the fan first.

but only if your gonna be doing this all the time.
