Q's or BL's ?

Recommended Posts

Hi done alot of snooping around looking at setting up FI's in my car will be in a Ford XR6 Turbo (aussie car Large 4 Door sports / family car) currently running 2 x P3 12's rockfords and a P1.6 600w rms Alpine D amp in a ported box..

I love my sound quality but also like Db's.. If i run 2 x 15Q's can they be ported or should they be sealed for best Quality.. Or should I just go a couple BL's ported.. These will be Trunk mounted. Also what amp should I go ... See alot of people saying Sundowner Will 2 x 15" Q's or bl's handle 2 SAE-1000D strapped together ? or just run 1 Amp. I like a varied range of music from Rap to Metal and pink floyd ! lol . Will be over in Nevada come November was thinking ordering a couple 15" while there shipping em back ot Oz..

Thanks in advance for any contructive answers still on steep learning curve and always willing to take Genuine advice ! :) ..

Thanks

Trev

Ok let's start out with goals.

What are you looking for?

Are you looking to be loud or sound good?

Do you listen to rock most of the time, or rap a lot?

Judged by what you have said so far I don't think the BL's are what you're looking for.

I think Q's ported or sealed are best for you.

Guess a Mixture of Rock and metal 60% time with a good mix of floyd thrown in to confuse things... But I still want to be able to turn up the gaine and shake the car. I am guessing FI Q15's

should be able to do that for 1 or 2 songs in a row sustained bass output without melting down. Songs like Sorrow from the pulse album rattle my current car and make your eyes blur a little with vibration... I guess I want High Quality but in a nutshell I still want to be able to have someone sitting in the car say oh chit wtf are you running ! lol..

Ok.

I would recommend 2 15" Q's in a ported enclosure.

Give each sub about 3.5 cu ft net (7 cu ft total) and tune to 34-35 htz.

Put the BP Option on each sub, and you could run it off of a SAZ-3000D!

Or if you do not want to deal with the electrical upgrades, you could get something like a RF T2000.1bd
